Yup. Happened on my '05 as well. Being replaced this week. My warranty will be done so I hope nothing else happens. Nothing big anyway. These cars from what I have gathered are very strong.

I'm having the airbags replaced on my 2005 and the 2006 Heritage next month under warranty for the same issue. My yellow '06 is perfect however.

Yikes, thanks for letting us know.

I was thinking about having mine done, but don't want to waste time and resources if it might just happen again.

Am I the only one concerned that we are using up a dwindling supply of Ford GT airbags for the sole purpose of a cosmetic issue with the horn button? Surely, one of our creative "after market" guru's can come up with A CF or aluminum solution? PD

I agree. Maybe a stick on emblem matching the original would work.

I have had mine replaced twice, and the current one is now bad as well. Presumably I can still claim it warranty as the process started back when I had one. Isn't there a serious safety issue with add ons to the air bag? Don't think anyone wants the badge permanently imbedded in their forehead!!

I nice clear plastic sticker with the original '60s GT emblem would be great.

sticker for steering hub

I have the stickers. They are on ultra thin clear vinyl with a red half on top & a blue on bottom. It is clear in the middle that will show the FORD GT on the hub

Ed

PS I added my friend's shop on the sticker but the ones I have are plain. I didn't center the sticker over the lettering in this photo.

still might see spots if the center is clear and using the wheels letters.

Does anyone happen to have a take off they could send me to look at?

Jake,

They don't come off and the only way to buy one is to purchase an entire airbag. So finding a wrecked GT that has cooked off the drivers airbag is the only way I can think of to get one. I know that makes a solution tougher.

Chip, I was thinking somebody that got theirs warranted might have talked the service guy into letting them keep the old one for wall art or a sweet paper weight.

If not, it does make it a bit tougher.
Not a show stopper though.

The whole air bag will get replaced under warranty as I had this done months ago. There are also other threads on this subject just do a search.:thumbsup

Correct. I had to replace two entire air bag units (for two different cars) to fix the delamination on the horn button. Ford requires the service Mgr. to send in digital pictures to approve the replacement. I am sure they will do it if you're still under warranty. All my cars warranties have now expired. I am glad I got my Heritage done in July!
