Billet seat vents

With the plastic seat vents in the cars that see use and U.V. starting to tulip around the periphery, I tasked my machine shop to make all-aluminum vents like the prototype car had.

Combined with Pe2unia's seat belt pass thru's, I think one can achieve a result much, much nicer than Hot Buttons and be a lot closer to what the original design intended

Behind the leather, there is a plastic panel with angled recessed holes and surrounding foam

Each Vent has a nut that will secure it to that panel and still fit into the hole in the seat back foam, just like the original did.

There is a plastic tool to engage the holes in the vent to hold it in place while tightening the nut with the other tool

You can remove the plastic vents, keeping the original leather and even have your Carbon Fiber clear coated while it is being done.

Not a hard project for a good upholstery shop.

Pretty cool. Looks like the proto car used Speedhuts.

Kind of.

The needles on the gauges are gorgeous IMO.

Outstandng work. Any plans for scaling up production? The center vent in the prototype looks cool too.

My machinist is up for making more, he’s a one man show, so it would take a few weeks. My upholstery guy hasn’t gotten far enough to give a full report, but he feels any competent shop should be able to swap the plastic for the billet pieces (which are very lightweight).

I wish the prototype shifter and dash vents made it into production.
