Very close to setting up for enclosed trailering to track days. IF I do this, it will allow me to haul along extra wheels and tires. So I'll need a 2nd set of dedicated track wheels to replace my "street car" BBS's (with new Bridgestones). Would probably opt for Hoosiers, a la Torrie, but what aftermarket wheels?? Options would seem to be another set of the cool OEM BBS's or the other OEM's offered for FGT, or ??? What are the cost savings? Let me know what you other trackoholics have gone with and why.

The car is mildly lowered with the alignment per AREA 51. I will run on the track with Shadowman's present street alignment, rather than re-setting front end for the track, since I do drive the car mostly on the street.

Also let me know if anyone has a set of wheels they're trying to move.

Thanks for the help, REDEEMED

I use the 'standard' wheels and Bridgestones for street consumption. At the track I use the "upgraded' OEMs with Hoosiers. Alex drove it at TMS and thought it was a good setup. I do not change my alignment for track days either.

I do the same as Fubar, it is a really good set-up.

Thanks for the input. Is there a reason you use the BBS for the track and the 'other' on the street? I'm guessin' they're a little lighter, but I'd probably do it the other way around, since the BBS look so cool on the street, and wheels seem to get more rash and rock dings at the track.

You'll have a hard time finding wheels that are lighter then the 10 spoke BBS wheels. Combined with the light weight Hoosier tires this is the optimal track set up.

Lightweight BBS wheels + Hoosier R-6s.

+1 on this setup. The Hoosiers are a lot lighter than street tires. The opt. BBS wheels are about the lightest wheels. Once warmed up they have amazing grip. They'll make you feel like Dan Gurney!

+ however many we are up to. "optional" BBS wheel with Hoosier R6. Save the $ on the wheels cuz once you drive the hoosiers ont he track you will want nothing else (also light etc), and then you will burn em up. And buy another set, and another.....

I use the CC Wheels http://www.ccwheel.com for the track. I am using the C14 with Goodyear slicks. There are photos & lots of threads/posts if you do a search on this subject.

Another vote for the CCW C-14 wheel! It's lighter than the OE BBS wheel, and arguably more attractive at the race track.

I'm also using CCW's with Yokohama slicks. I've used the Goodyear slicks too and the r6's. Set my fastest track times on the Hoosiers, but we'll try to top those times this summer.

Has anyone put paint protection film on the inside of the clamshell wheel well to prevent damage to the clam's carbon fiber? I have crazing in my clam from regular road stuff .. can only imagine how much more the track tires would toss up in there. The yokohamas use to make my lotus look like someone tried to paint it black with a splatter gun after a day or so at the track. :bored

I asked my installer about it, and because of the reverse style of the curves, so the material can not be stretched like across the front of a car, he did not think it would be feasible with out looking terrible.

which CCW's?

I'm leaning toward the CCW's. So those of you that have 'em... which model and finish, and did you stay stock size? Planning on the Hoosiers. Roughly what weight savings over BBS.

what did you just say?

Juvenile I know, but I can’t get past “I have crazing in my clam”… if that’s not a punchline to something it should be.
Sorry.:rofl

Not that big a problem... 2 weeks of Penicillen will fix it.

A young kid is in a shipwreck and he winds up stranded on a tropical island. For twenty years he never sees another human being. Then one day a beautiful girl with long blond hair, her clothes half-ripped off, washes up on a piece of driftwood. He explains to her how he existed for twenty years, digging for clams, and eating fruits and berries. She says, "Well, what did you do for love?" He says, "Love? What's that?" She says, "I'll show you." She shows him. Then she shows him again. Then she shows him one more time. When they're finally done, she says, "Well, how do you like love?" He says, "It's great. But look what you did, now I have crazing on my clam digger."

Okay... I'll stop now.:rofl:rofl:rofl

CC Wheels

There is another thread with lots of CC Wheel photos & specs but here is my GT with the lightweight versions again wearing G-19 slicks.

Ed

PS With my Stillen/AP rear brakes I need to modify the e-brake caliper to clear the rear 18" wheel. I haven't tried the CCW fronts with my new front brake cooling hose in the wheel well.
