Auto Clam Shell Lift

Has anyone used actuators to make the clam shell open automatically? I think it'd have to be a 2 part process, 1. actuate the safety release latches, 2. lift the shell. Should be able to close the shell with the reverse switch. Would like to get any design or input if this has been done.

I don't know about the European versions, but the US ones only open the trunk remotely, but cannot close without pushing the button on the trunk. :confused

Must be another US safety feature.

Thanks, I thought that was the case.

US cars are worst in many ways.

1. No remote trunk closing.
2. Lack of TV or DVD viewing in from the front.
3. Poorer front knee room.
4. No remote folding mirrors.
5. GPS lockout until the warning msg is cleared.

I guess we have the brainiacs in Wash DC to thank.

There is a black and gold GTX1 that has a powered opening claim shell. It also opens up from the rear and has a trunk big enough for a set of Golf Clubs. I believe shelby#18's blue GTX1 has this mod also. Maybe he will post a link for you....
