Gentlemen,
After consulting with DBK and a couple other members who have taken delivery I want to relay some info to both those who will be taking delivery and others who would like to be there when a new GT is delivered. When a new owner takes delivery the Ford Motor Company flys a delivery specialist out to do a 2+ hour long orientation and it's pretty important. These are very complicated cars and the delivery specialist both explains and shows the new owner a ton of stuff. The new owner will only have him one time and those first 2 or 3 hours are important. I was shown where to find stuff and how to deal with problems. Things I really needed to know that I probably wouldn't have looked up in the owners manuel. For this reason it's a TERRIBLE IDEA TO HAVE A BUNCH OF FRIENDS AT YOUR DELIVERY. When several people start asking questions or talking a lot of important info gets missed.
Everybody is happy and excited when a new GT is delivered and that's understandable. But it's far better to throw a party the next day after your delivery briefing is over. Trust me on this. At Santa Margarita Ford I had to close the private garage doors so I could hear. DBK has locked the ICON showroom doors during deliveries for the same reason.
In short, if you've got a new GT coming, have your wife and kids there and nobody else. And even they will be shut out when you are in the car with the doors shut going over everything.
If you are a friend of a new owner, don't ask to be there at delivery. Go see it later in the day when the delivery is finished. Kind of like a new mom. No matter how eager she is to show off her new baby, it's still a bad idea to have the whole neighborhood in the delivery room!! I believe other owners will confirm what I've relayed here.
All the best.
