Niagara to Montreal approximately 7 hrs. Town of Niagara on Canadian side quite nice. Drive from there to Montreal not much to see unless you want to make detours to Toronto or Ottawa. Up state NY quite beautiful during autumn foliage season. Oct 8-23 I am not available. Leaves are starting to turn already up here. Peak usually first week of october. You may want to consider this in your plans. Stopping in Lake Placid (1 hr detour off 87) either on your way up or back definitely suggested. Side trip to VT also a possibility. PM me if you want to discuss all the options!!

In Montreal, make sure you guys go to Chez Paris for entertainment. In Quebec, make sure you dine at La Parmassean and make sure one of the 2 brothers (owners) serenade you. The younger one looks like Nardo. For accommodations in Quebec stay at the Chateau Frontnac.

Agreed on the above. Went to Montreal two years ago for a hockey tourney; Chez Paris is recommended others are awesome as well....or so I heard. We spent some time at the Frontnac in Quebec City when the Gumball Rally came through. We were hotel guests so all areas were open to us; very cool experience.

In Montreal if you are looking for a lunch, go to Schwartzs deli; been there since before my time and still looks like it probably did when it opened. Be prepared for a wait at peak hours.

GT on the border

GT on Canadian side with Fort Niagara NY across the water.

It was a lot quicker getting into Canada than getting back into the US. Friendly border guards on both sides though with a lot of interest in the GT. The C$ is definitely not the Northern Peso anymore.

I am not sure of your exact dates. If I am available (see above) would try to meet you in Montreal. I know the city very well and even if I am not available I can make recommendations or reservations for you at hotels (big chains versus nice boutique hotels in "old Montreal"). I know allot of good restaurants. Montreal has some of the best restaurants of all ethnic types that you can find anywhere!. let me know. (may consider it for a future meet with using the facilities at Mont Tremblant including the track).

This thread is very interesting and fun to follow, my only concern is it will get so long I'll miss posts. I suppose I need to keep track of what post I looked at last. Keep it coming!

So I've read this whole thing as it is a description of a real road trip with a GT. One thing still nags me. Where did you put luggage? Or did you just ship it UPS ahead of you? I convinced my wife that the GT will have all the creature comforts she wants but I haven't showed her the trunk yet. We want to be able to take it to Vegas for a week. Somehow the trailer from the other topic doesn't work for me (no trailer hitch will ever find its way onto my car) and the "strap on the back of the deck lid" like you used to see in the old Corvettes and MGs doesn't work either.

Great to hear you got the bug!
As long as you put your pants and formal wear behind youR seats with hangers..
You can store at least 5 pairs each of undergarments in the front trunk as long as you roll most of it to fit....
Our trick if you look back at the pictures....we took 2 travel hanging bags for suits at kmart.......cut them in half and sewed the zippers at on end, giving you 2 sealed flexible bags each...one for clean and another for was to be cleaned......it worked great....the only thing you cannot do is pack tooth paste, shaving cream, soap in the front as it is close to the radiator....it does get hot in there...........
DO IT MY FRIEND,DON GOT THE BUG, CANADA AND BACK, RICH GOT THE BUG,BOSTON AND BACK...You wont regret it....and you will really appreciate the car alot more......GTJOEY1314
