Aproach angle.Viper vs GT

My car is almost with me but one question still bugging me is whether I'll be able to drive it all the places I drive my Viper.

I guess there are quite a few Viper owners here so maybe you could assist.

My Viper is a 97 GTS with std suspension ride height, it scrapes occasionally on the lower front on aproach to ramps etc.

Will the Ford be any worse?

Another comparison maybe a 997 GT3RS which is also limited as the spoiler is low and the overhang quite large.

My greater concern is probably whether I can get up my drive way

Thanks in advance

I have my GT lowered a lot and do not have any issues in comparison with my GTS. that bottom painted portion of the viper was lower than the gt

your GT will scrape, best buy a replacement from splitter and just live with it. I built trailer ramps to get my car on the street and slipped of them and scraped the front splitter again. I ahve two back ups. It gives on peace of mind.

My GT has way more clearance on the front than my 911TT does. Of course the 911 has been lowered and the GT has not been (yet). That's not to say it won't scrape, it is low, it's just got better clearance than the lip on my 911 now.

Sounding promising though the lip on the RS is expendable and flexible

How much is a replacement for the GT? And is it pliable?

I own a 96 VIPER GTS that is completely stock and own a couple of GTs - both un-lowered. I can tell you without a shadow of doubt that the GT angle of approach is far more forgiving than the VIPER. I will be installing a skid plate for the Viper and not for the GTs. BTW, the prowler has the same problem at the GTS

Viper,
I bought a replacement splitter for piece of mind, as AtomicGT suggested, for about $150 a few months ago. You might check Torrie McPhail, here on the Forum, for availability and price. They are made of a relatively pliable plastic-like material. There is reportedly about 4" of front clearance on a stock GT, which is somewhat greater than most other exotics. On the other hand, you will scrape a little on some dips at intersections in the road or entrances to driveways, in my experience.

I drive the GT everyday here in the UK (London and Surrey) and I have never had any problem.

The 997 GT3 RS is much lower.

By all means buy a replacement front valance. In the UK you can call Roush Europe for all your parts. I found that after shipping, import taxes and currency bid offer their price ends up being very competitive.

My GT was lowered 2" up front, and I NEVER scraped anything. Just enter at an angle. Larger the incline, larger the angle.

I think your question has been answered, but as a Viper owner I can assure you that the GT will clear approach angles that my Viper will scrape on.
