I like the special editions. Do we get the decals on it Too? That way we only have to change the number when we go on the track!

I'm a sucker for the Martini Racing Theme and GT3 fixed rear wing!

Heck, based on the current cars, most of us would select a Heritage Edition if offered.

I like that as well. I think the graphics on the NGT lay down nicely where they appear more restrained than on many Martini interpretations.

Personally I lean toward solids.

I think you should of had to put 100K wire to complete app. Then lets see how many real apps they have. Any even a 16 year old can fill out a app even if they never owned a car let alone a GT.

I agree, or just $50k which would be roughly 10%. I bet before it is over with Ford will wish they had. I think there will be a major shift of true potential owners when it comes to slapping $500,000 cash on the table. Lots of dreamers out there. Also there will be some that can afford it now, but their situation may change.

Ford didn't charge anything for the application because it wanted as many people as possible to apply, including those who they know can't buy the car. This is a simple, inexpensive way to obtain data from customers and potential customers. Ford would be foolish to pass up this opportunity. I'm sure Ford has a set of qualifying answers to automatically narrow the field without having to go through every application in detail, so it wouldn't matter if a million applications were received.

I'm glad Ford didn't impose any restrictions on the application process. To do so would be contrary to Ford's values and position in the marketplace. With the exception of the occasional GT, Ford makes cars for everyday Americans. For every one of us who spend obscene amounts of money on expensive Fords, there are thousands upon thousands of loyal Ford customers who buy base F150s, Fusions, etc. in enormous numbers. It's these people who make Ford a success. The reason the new GT has an Ecoboost 6 cylinder is to have that GT magic rub off on the cars and customers that allow Ford to build the new GT in the first place. It's great that these "dreamers" can get in on the GT excitement by participating in the application process.

Yep, for many trying to get approved for a 500K car loan won't be easy, for others 500K is chump change.

Well said Paul. I also buy the base stuff for various reason, like my 10' Focus spending most of its life in an airport parking lot so I can use it 1-3 days a month.
Nice to have something dependable that isn't trashed.

The responses are likely a good evaluation of their marketing strategies.

I mentioned this in my photograph post, but I just wanted to say, I am getting bombarded with the absolutely most random questions about the applications and the process from the general public as well as car enthusiasts of all levels.

It's obvious that the process itself is of widespread interest and has sparked a lot of curious folks to come out of the woodwork.

First week was reported to be over 7,000 applications, I believe.

Since we keyed in the application the data went into a database. One query will sift out the likely semi finalists, then they can pick from there or refine the query to get smaller results.

I'm getting a ton of questions coming my way as well. People that are self admitted non car enthusiasts are curious of whom Ford will select for ownership. Awesome interest in the GT and Ford. They really hit it out of the park with public interest.

They really did make good use of their time with the delay in the process... remember the old saying "absence makes the heart grow fonder" I think it has worked... several people asked me questions while out driving the GT the last several weeks. Many of our sub-contractors have been asking for updates every time I see them. Many Ford fans working for us. Some also said they were going to fill out the application. I agree it was good business to open the process up to everyone... they will have a huge addition to their data base when this is all over.

Ford had a great idea!!!
