Anyone have an extra Saleen Hanging GT Wall Art?

DBK: All of my information comes through Vincent, for what it is worth. When I got my Wall Hanging, I was under the impression that Saleen was no longer involved, and that the inventory of hangings had reverted to the firm that made them. I agree that my contacts at Ford were not aware of there existance.

Yeah, I definitely was not trying to imply that info came from you. I vaguely recall this coming up before and someone mentioning that yarn about the $2600 bones before.

Dealers response.

I know as a dealer I was never offered the wall hangings from Ford. As a matter of fact I had some Ford exec's in my store not to long ago and they were most inquisitive as to where the heck did I get that GT on the wall.

As times are tough mine is available for say, 18,000. I really like that little model.

It's Midnight Blue the best GT color.

I am very sure of the details and Story that he provided to me. He said he pays $1,000.00 for them and drives them from Detroit to you in person while in route on his Shows that he does. The boxes that they are in will not live threw the nornal UPS or FED EX system. They need to be Hand delivered. I have no reason to make this up and was Very happy to secure mine as was my friend to get his. I did wonder about the tag with the VIN but the box it came in apeared to be as old as my car.Thats the story.

One can always count on the generosity of others in this forum!:rofl

'Not questioning your account of events when I state that the wall hangings we rec'd a couple years ago came in wooden shipping crates with interior supports designed into them to keep the 'hangings from moving around in shipment. 'Darn near took an hour to get the actual GT out of 'em! (But, I don't recall if they were sent out by UPS or freight truck. I THINK it came by 'truck.)

This wooden crate came about because the 1st few 'hangings were sent out in substandard shipping containers which resulted in damage to the 'hangings during transport and the subsequent need to ship REPLACEMENT 'hangings to their buyers. :cheers

It's a curse I have in SOME (but not in all) areas...:wink

Man, I remember at the time thinking how steep I thought $900 was for a hanging on the wall of something that I have the real thing in my garage.

Now it seems, even in these tough times, like a real bargain!!!

Those who have them, enjoy! And I hope someone gets a hold of the molds!

Would love to see these back in production.

I picked up both my table and wall hanging at the Saleen building in Irvine. They were even shipped in wooden crates from Saleen in Michigan to Saleen in Irvine, California, and they took quite a while to disassemble, but came in flawless.

I picked up my "GT" coffee table directly from Saleen in Detroit. It was wood crated. Cost was 2000. Sits in my family room and is the same color as one of the gals in the garage. So I get to see her everyday.:thumbsup
The wall art is also very nice and cost 900. I figured for basically double the price I got at least 3 times the car.

Just to keep this story going, RCODEMAN's story is exactly what Vincent told to me when I got mine. None of this means it is necessarily true, but at least the stories we are receiving are consistent.

Pockets is right. It was a total fiasco when they sent out the first batch because they were inadequately packaged and every single one broke. Poor Mike Z was majorly stressed over that. They ended up re-sending all in wooden crates, which couldn't have remotely been cheap.

Oh yeah, I remember this now...That was also a factor that was making me gun shy at the time...

Yeah--I drove to Troy and picked mine up personally at the plant. Perfect condition and best color...Midnight Blue/ White stripes.

Yep, it was a great example of Saleen really stepping up to the plate as the cost of making each crate wiped out a big chunk of the profit for them on the project. An attitude of get it done right no matter what. I was very impressed.

I wouldn't be surprised if it wiped out all of the profit. Freight on the artwork we send out is usually near $400.
