After a few hours of cleaning, my black 05 stays clean for about 3 minutes. For those 3 minutes, agree they def look awesome.

I had the '18 GT out for a long run today in this glorious early Fall weather here in MA. Got back, parked the car and raised the rear wing as directed to prevent the paint gouging problem to the rear quarter panels caused by the INBOARD leading edge of the wing "tipping" if stored in the down position thereby making contact with the body. I always do a walk-around before leaving and a NEW paint defect was noticed. The OUTBOARD leading edge of the wing on both sides incurred a small paint chip at the leading edge CORNER. I've not seen this kind of paint damage to the wing itself previously discussed on the Forum.

Has anyone else experienced a paint chip on the outboard CORNERS of the leading edge of the wing itself on both sides? If so, is there a fix or adjustment to prevent recurrence before I have the paint repaired?

Also, I have delayed arranging for refinishing the two approximately 1/4" diameter gouges on the L and R rear quarters caused by the wing tipping when stored in the down position before Ford's TSB was issued advising us to park the car with the wing up. Have Ford or Multimatic Engineers developed a permanent fix for the wing tipping issue so the cars do not have to be parked with the wing deployed to the raised position?

It would be great to have these wing malfunctions which cause paint damage mechanically resolved before undertaking the needed paint repairs as I am concerned with possible paint damage recurring after the panels are refinished.

To return this tread to its original intent vs. a discussion of the joys of keeping a black car clean ... I was reporting a DIFFERENT wing paint damage situation ... not the widely reported rear quarter panel gouges resulting from leaving the wing in the down position for more than a day or two.

Need to see pics, or just circle exactly where it's occurring. If it's the leading edge on the wing chipping from contact, is it also not damaging the inboard side of the body? Just as a possibility, if the wing is up in the air and it has managed to get small chips, could it literally be rock chips?

I would definitely continue to call the service people and document any progression of answers and the response times.

I have no complaint about the concierge or servicing dealer. They have both been very responsive, returning phone calls same day or within 24 hours. The Ford engineers on the other hand seem to slow the process down. They wanted pictures so I sent them. Same pics I posted here (which look much better on my phone). They now want more pics to be taken by the servicing tech in my garage.

Your issue is a known quantity, so my advice on yours remains the same. Just leave the wing up. I do believe Fred's is a previously unreported potential contact point or other issue. I checked all the cars here and none have any evidence of contact on that side.

JImie and Forum Members, sorry for the delay on the pictures as my Girl just got back from her last service visit and is home at last! Hope these pictures help in making a decision as to the rub Spots. This works for me and is not that bad looking. PS. My mechanic did find a leaking hydraulic line at the fitting and replaced it. As stated in earlier posts “ it is important to drive these New GT’s and work the hydraulics system so they don’t dry up and leak”!

How did you know they were needed? They look fine to me.

Actually just noted an indention on in the Xpell where the spoiler sat and took precautions before any damage was done! Actually there is a little tip on the door stops that you could cut off to make the stop flat but I didn’t see a need to. Also I have not had any movement or sagging of my spoiler when stored in the up position for storage regardless of the time.

My wing had a small chip even though I've kept the wing up all the time when parked - turns out wing needed to be adjusted
It has now been repaired and looks perfect - I'll send pics later on this morning
