I had the pleasure of spending a good part of yesterday over at Heffner's. Left my house at 6:45 AM and arrived at Jason's at 8:00. Traffic wasn't too bad, and taking the GT over the Sunshine Skyway bridge was a lot of fun.
They were ready for me and the car was started on about 8:15. I had them do trany cooler (cooltech), Heffner cat back, pulley and tune. Two very competent tech's worked on the car for six hours and by 3:15 I was ready to head back towards Tampa. Jason and I got to know each other a bit over lunch, and I can say he is a very stand up guy with a great business. His people are top notch. A real pleasure to do business with.
On the exhaust install, I found it interesting they took the whole back of the car apart. Bumper, clamshell, rear 1/4 pieces etc. Jason explained that it is much easier to do the job right this way. Every thing was taped off to avoid scratches and great pains were taken to get all parts properly alligned when reinstalled. They took a fair chunk of time just to adjust the exhaust properly so it hits the holes in the bumper just right. After watching this install, I was extremely happy I didn't have the Ford garage do the install of the exhaust as originally planned. They were going to do it when I had to have the drivers side cat replaced but thankfully, do to some complications, the exhaust couldn't be there in time. As it turned out the Ford garage had stripped out two of the three bolts on my exhaust when putting the cat on, causing Jason's guy's a bit of grief.
The ride home was a lot more entertaining than the drive there. Anyone that has been on the fence on doing pulley and tune and or exhaust, get off off it and get it done. Not only is the sound spectacular (but not too loud for cruising), the performance difference on my car is astounding. The tune and exhaust Jason explained is 80-100 HP improvement. I didn't dyno mine, but there is a huge diff in the power of my car.
Overall, a very enjoyable day.
