Yes, let it be what it desperately wants to be...

Like the tin man yearning for his heart, the poor Cayman S, a good car, that could be great.

My guess is a Cayman with 400 HP and some supension tweaks would out perform most 911s. That's why Porsche won't make it. They rather sell the higher margin 911s.

The car was engineered (or de-engineered) accordingly to fit (and stay) in its proper place on the Porsche Totem Pole.

Hopefully, as they step up the performance and engineering of the bread and butter car, then they will give the Cayman S it's proper due.

Beautiful car you have! Love the RS models, and am so glad Porsche decided to import them this time around (the 996 RS version was not available here). I have a question about the color? The white/black colorway is a special order color, right? You don't see many of them. I just wish Autoart (a diecast company) would offer this color in their RS model, as they sell the other 4 colors. Can't wait for more pics. :thumbsup

White was not a special order color, altough you don't see many of them out there. Most that are for sale are black, green or orange. The white cars seem to draw a premium over the other colors. I like white because it is the least garish of the bunch.

I too wish that Autoart would build the white model. I've got the silver version, and I might have to paint it myself:thumbsup

Come on Mitty! Time for one of those legendary reviews! kjslider also has a white RS. I would take the RS (assuming sticker prices) over the 997 TT every time, though both are cool. I'm very surprised EVO would pick it over the Scud, which is supposed to be an absolute maniac.

Good stuff Tiger 6.

I'm going on another epic drive this weekend, RS on Friday from Prescott to Bagdad (I'm not kidding, its a great little mining town in the middle of nowhere with great roads all the way there and back). Then I'll drive the GT on the same roads all day Saturday. Hay curumba, the sacrifices I'm willing to make for the good of the brotherhood.

A full review will follow. This will be part 1 of the story. Then, in March, I will take both cars up to Miller Motorsports Park, where I have driven quite a bunch, and give a full track review on both cars. This will be Part 2.

Stay tuned...:thumbsup
