Another Bumper Delete Thread

I am thinking about doing the bumper delete to my car with the CDC kit and I am either going to add a Ford Racing or a Heffner Exhaust since I need the tips to look right and I want to preserve the stock parts in case the next owner wants them. I am likely to tackle it myself. Anyone done that? Also, since I am in Houston, I need someone to paint the rear panel -- anyone had it done here in Houston? Looking for tips -- all are appreciated.

I'd be happy to walk you through it. Done about 30 of them. It's an easy mod and one you can certainly do yourself.

I have not been a big fan of keeping take off parts. After I did the Shelby GT conversion to the supercharger I brought all the stuff back. They sat in the garage. Now I have a big box of FGT parts - original shifter, muffler etc. I don't know if I'm going to keep the stuff for very long since, like you said, I'm not looking back...

Original FGT parts will always be a good commodity.

I figure that if I throw the bumper in the trash that I will find out 5 years from now that you can't sell a car without a bumper. I'll keep the parts.

BINGO!!! Exactly!

Regardless, as Lorenzo stated, FGT parts will always be worth $$$$$$$$ to someone. And the further down the road we get, the more they'll be worth.

Talk to the vintage Corvette guys about original parts. They are worth their weight in platinum. I've kept my old muffler so I can use it as a very effective boat anchor. Maybe I'll add the bumper to it this summer.

+10 On keeping all your parts. If nothing else, if you loose your marbles and decide to sell the car, You can take it back to stock if need be.

On the subject of Bumper delete. One of the best mods possible. :thumbsup

I agree that those parts will be worth something in 40+ years. I won't be around so I do admit I don't keep parts. Bumper delete - yes. The car looks funny with a rear bumper.

Look forward to hearing the damage. I still may do it myself because I like to tinker but this may not be the right thing to tinker with.

I did a kit a while back and included some instructions for installation, although not the same kit, you might get an idea from them if it is something you want to tackle. It is a pdf at the end of the first post.

P.S. - I've since installed a Stillen x-pipe... you will have WAY more room to work with the anchor out of the way.

One more question that I am sure someone knows the answer. If I pull the stock muffler and replace it with a lighter Ford Racing or Heffner Exhaust does that affect the ride height? If yes, how is that adjusted? Finally, let me ask the hotly debated question (a) Heffner or (b) Ford Racing. I like the tips on both.

It should not change your ride height. I have prices on everything for you. Give me a call in the AM to discuss
