This is what you do when you're a curious cat and you got too much time on your hands! !

Being heavily into wheels and wheel weights these are pretty good numbers!!!

I take it one is front and one is rear. Amazing how much difference the size of tire makes.

The rear wheel is also 3 inches wider. Wider wheel a lot wider and heavier rubber

I'm sure they molding process and resin infusion process is very tight . I would doubt they would vary more than an ounce or two if that much. It's probably more of a variation in the molding of the tire.

There are minimal weights on the setup so that adds a little, bit but I wasn't going to take them off...

If a wheel company is looking to promote the lightest number they also remove the center caps and the valve stems.. so yes the actual wheel weight will bury a few ounces from what you see here.

Brian great info. It also shows what a great job you did sourcing the light weight alloy wheels for the "old" FGT.

http://www.fordgtforum.com/forums/s...ight-Wheel-Offer/page5?highlight=wheel+weight

The new wheels are Front : 19 x 9 + 50 mm offset = 17.5 lbs + or - 100 gms Est. weight ( Anodized finish) Rear : 19 x 11.5 + 40 mm offset = 19.66 lbs + or - 100 gms Est. weight ( Anodized finish) .

The new GT uses 14mm dia. studs so they have larger-diameter holes on our old cars.. the 05 / 06 uses 1/2" inch dia studs. I guess maybe you could come up with some type of sleeve arrangement.. probably won't have time to see if they'll fit on an 05/06. Maybe when I get back from the rally..
For the record I got the Accurate Tire weight directly from a my sources. . .. Tire Rack has the shipping weights but I got the exact weights to the tenth of a pound

If I ever get it back together and back on the ground we can do that!!! Do you have access to some scales or an accurate scale?

The car is ripped apart front to back top to bottom hope I can get it back together for the rally...:biggrin

Interesting that they used metric studs. Thanks for coming up so fast with the info. How about the rest of the car, imperial or metric ?

If I recall correctly Brian, the car was delivered to you fully assembled.

The weight of these 20" wheels is excellent, particularly in light of the fact that they meet brutal OEM durability requirements. Add'l info from Brian's 2010 thread for comparison: For reference the 10 spoke BBS wheels are Front 18 x 9 @ 20.44 lbs and Rear 19 x 11.5 @ 25.352.

Cross section of these trick Carbon Revolution wheels (GT350R wheel pictured):

Brian, do you use the same lift on your '06? Pro's/Con's?

Metric. On the new car. Actually I think everything on the 06 GT is metric except for the wheel studs. ..:)

Yea.. my 06 made it 3 days before I started to take it apart.. This one lasted a week !! :biggrin

I use the same lift for both no cons... fits perfectly

That's light! Your are saying wheel weight but I think you mean wheel + tire combo weight? I weighed the '05-06 wheels without tires & it was front 45 lbs & rear 61 lbs. My CCW C14 aluminum wheels for the '06-06 GT was front 41 lbs & rear 44 lbs without tires.
