And now for something completely different !

Brian, now you told me I'm first. :wink

I'm in for my standing order of one for each side.

Finally - I don't care what color they are or what they're made of. I'll take one for each side. BTW, my leg is available for pictures! When my daughter was little, I won the Mel Gibson leg look-a-like contest at her school. She has never forgotten that. Beat that BigS.

Frank , I'm going to take your word on this! I have no idea what the heck Mel's legs look like and I'm not sure I'd want to judge that contest !!

Brian,

Dr. Frank makes a good leg model.:lol

Now, for the questions:
What materials are you going to make them out of?
What colors are going to be available?
Will you be making both left & right versions?
What does the lead time look like?
What type of pricing structure are you looking at?

I am sure others may have additional questions.

Thanks,

Fred

Fred,
It sounds like most people want silver painted. So we'll have the option to make them out of FRP ( fiberglass for you old school guys ) and paint them and they will also be available in CF.
One of the reasons it has taken so long is the right side model. So yes they're will be a matching left and right side unit. We also explored all of the different mfg. / cost options. I looked at every thing from injection molding to high volume over seas CF mfg r's. After exploring all the possibilities were using the same Mfg that's doing our current stuff. They will be made right here in the good ol USA. The market's just not big enough to get into the high volume game.

I've stated this before. I do these projects for me for things I'd like to have or need and if it appeals to others that helps me defray the costs so I really appreciate the support. I feel more like I'm making stuff for my friends. I'm expecting both the left and right models any day now. I need to do a full evaluation before I can take th next step.

They won't be cheap but none of this low volume stuff is. The painted fiber glass will probably be about the same as a CF unit. Reason being the lay up labor is the same time. Fiberglass materials are cheaper than the CF stuff but there's not that much material so the difference is small. Now you add in the painting to the FRP and you're at just about the same cost as the CF.

I will make up some sets of each and display them for all to see. I plan to play with some small Ford or GT logo's on the side. I would like to make this as interesting of a piece as possible. I'll give everyone some options to look at.

The final price will be determined after we get the proto types of each completed. We are also finalizing the last of the interior finish details. It will either be a black Neo foam pad or a spray in flock type lining. We will try to have a bunch of them batch painted to try to save on that part. The good new is they are getting closer and I'll look forward to some additional feed back soon. I'll promise you this ,they'll look right and have a nice fit and finish or they won't leave my hands..:thumbsup

Just read in AdAge that Frankie signed a new contract with L'EGGS replacing Broadway Joe as their new spokesperson. Guess he will be able to pay his own bar bills at the Fairmont Newport from here on out! :-)

Holder

Terrific job on the holder! Count me in for one on the driver's side, as I've installed the Safecraft fire extinguisher on the passenger side.
Silver as shown is good. PM me with details.

Frank I'm guessing you aren't referring to me here! :biggrin

Pretty cool add on Brian.

CF for me to match the rest of the CF interior.

Yes BigS, your daughter made a comment to me about your legs once (maybe you didn't hear it then).

Now that's scary! I indeed must've missed that dammit! So seldom get compliments from young women, wouldn't you know when I finally do it's from my own daughter! :frown

BTW we sure appreciated your hospitality during that stopover, and enjoyed hanging with everyone in St. Louie and at Indy. She had a great time on that trip and still tells her friends about all the GT's and her dad's cool buddies! :cheers

I think the design team did a great job on the interior of the GT, but like many of you I like to take a bottle of water along for the cruise. After many hours of looking at the options I came up with this unique item and mounting location.
For now we'll call it a POD. It will hold a typical 16.9 oz bottle of water. It will also hold a gage, cell phone or sun glasses etc... It bolts in to the existing console mounting points so no modifications are required. The driver's side prototype is what you see here. I need to determine if there is enough interest in this item to go forward with a mass production of this side and we plan to make a mirror image one for the passenger side. This piece has been fully road tested and will not interfere with any controls or body parts or normal body movements. I've filed for some design protection so no copy cats please...:biggrin This prototype is painted silver. The production units will more that likely be Carbon Fiber. Let me know what you think and if you'd be interested in one?

Hello Stormcat.

I am very interested in a set. Silver. If available

starbucks

Brian... I am not a water drinker. But I do drink several Quarts of Starbucks coffee each day..straight black. Not a carmel machiado frapachino empenada etc etc..
Needless to say, I have dumped a few in the GT on the floor mat. Have you ever designed a holder that is verticle in similar location that could hold a Venti Starbucks with a lid on it.?
AJB andy

Stormcat;

Can you send me a P/M on these as well?

AJB, Empenada? Isn't that a fruit filled pie in a tortilla? :biggrin

.

Hey there Stormcat! Yea, it is an old post, but I still want one (or two). Please pm me when you have a minute. Thanks.

Now look what I started. :biggrin

Digging up the old post ... sometimes is ok.

Yes - Empenada is the fruit filled pie in a tortilla...but it has a nice 'ring' to it and it confuses the hell out of the Starbucks staff...
