that is really a neat story, makes you wonder if there are other cars with unique anomolies that have been delivered from the factory. like shelby said, we think we know a lot about these cars, but its nice to get surprised once in while.:cheers

I think that's it. I've spent hours discussing this kind of junk with everyone you can name on the GT program. I do believe they also added a bubble for Dan Gurney at the time it was built on his red car.

Thanks for the information Dave!
Your access to GT team members is "priceless" and what makes this Forum so special.

And it all started at an Ann Arbor Starbucks when Jamal and I met to shoot the shit 3 years ago. Now he's trying to move in across the street :lol

Do you know the VIN of the Blue/Silver car?

I will email Neil to see if he will divulge that info.

Midnight Blue/Silver Stripe GT

Neil's 2005 Blue GT with the special stripes is car number 804 - the story is included in the SAAC GT Registry - on page 1370.

I've seen his car, and thought I had some pictures, but have not been able to locate them.

AFAIK, Theodore's and Ressler's GT's were the only ones to make it through the system with "special paint".

Leave it to Jeff to have the # and the details.
Need toi spend some more quality time with the registry.
Thanks Jeff for the huge investment in time you made as the keeper of history.

Thanks for the info Jeff - and a huge thanks for all the work on the Registry! I highly recommend it to Forum members; it's not just numbers and data, but has quite a large number of fascinating stories. :thumbsup:thumbsup:thumbsup

Once again, here is how to buy a copy of the Registry: http://www.saac.com/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.browse&category_id=11&Itemid=45

" it's not just numbers and data, but has quite a large number of fascinating stories."....

....and original artwork by yours truly - I did the line drawings for the new GT and the Brock Daytona Coupes.

Thanks for the compliments on the SAAC GT Registry guys. Hard to believe, after five years of collecting data, stories, and pictures, it's finally out there.
I've met some really wonderful folks (and renewed some old friendships) among the GT community in my travels working on the GT Registry.
The new Ford GT really is THE ONE !

You guys are the greatest!

regards,

Jeff

That's a great story, Dave and the group needs to have this guy give an informal talk at one of the RallyIV dinners! Nothing like hearing the stories and the tall tales from the people who were in at the height of the program!

Hopefully we'll get a chance to meet and speak with Neil at one of our future events. Thanks for sharing the story.

DAve = that would be nice. I spoke to Neil in August and told him of Rally III. Let's keep '''working on him'' to attend Rally IV.
I do have photos of his car in front of World Headquarters at Rally I. But honestly, the photo does not due the car justice. It is hard in the photo to tell the stripe is silver. However, when I did park my Midnight Blue with White next to his Midnight Blue with silver you could tell... but I did not photo.
We need to see it in person at Rally IV

Neil was at Rally I with his car. Silver stripes looked great. Saw it at Ford HQ on "picture day".

Midnight Blue GT with Silver Stripes

While spending my Winter in Florida, I spotted Neill Ressler's GT at a car show in Naples. Didn't see Neill around, but, here's a shot of his one-off car:

The color combo is very striking - wish I could get a shot of it next to another blue one with white stripes.

Jeff

As time goes on I'm sure there will be many GT's repainted. I wonder at what point will custom colors become more commonly accepted. I bet there are Viper owners out there dying to have a snakeskin green with white stripe GT.

Frankie -
I don't think I'll ever spend another Winter in Detroit. I drug my '57 T'Bird down here, and have gone to a car show just about every weekend. Have seen a few GTs at shows around Orlando, but none of the guys I know.

Even though the neighbors tell me there's water running out of the crawl space under my house (guess some of those double digit negative overnights must have done in my pipes) I'm havin' fun down here in the sunshine.

See you Midwestereners in the Spring!

warm :rofl regards,

Jeff
