You're pbly referring to their new S5S Raptor, Sam. Darn little info (and only a couple of drawings) have been released on it.

Somewhere here on the Forum there's a thread on that car.

What is surprising is that they aren't contacting the existing S7 customer base to keep genuine interest in this future potential product. I wonder how serious they are about bringing this new car to production if the influentially people who buy their cars know little to nothing about it...

Exclusivity of Supercars doesn't automatically guarantee price appreciation as evidenced by the Jaguar XJ220. The S7 is very special, but IMO Saleen didn't leave anything on the table in the way of significant foreseeable appreciation for the owners...except some of the 2nd owners who bought them on the cheap. :cheers

Kirby, I believe Jaguar really missed the ticket by putting a 6 cylinder into the car. Would you buy a FGT with a 6 cylinder in it?

Why would you buy a supercar/ performance car that didn't really perform?

The 220 was introduced at an unfortunate time. Many owners lost their deposits as the stock and economic markets tanked. It was very exoensive, today a bargain at about $200k market price. Performance numbers qualify this Jag as a super car, no mater how many cylinders it has. Canepa is doing DOT on them. I find them stunning! My two cents.

I would agree Bony ...the 200 has the looks. When the car was introduced it was suppose to have a V8, but when it was manufactured the 6 cylinder was put in it. I know many people tried to back out of the car when it had less power. I truly believe the car today would have a greater resale if it had a greater powerplant in it.

Thanks

Pm replied to and email sent. I'll contact the owner and pass this on.

The next American Super car and they are still in business, with the cars getting better every year. The new Mosler MT900s, I may pick it up on Friday or Monday then I will let everybody know how good it really is.

Heard a little rumor that "someone" may have picked up the Mosler.... true? If so, impressions? Thx.

Coinciding with the launch of its new SMS Limited brand, sports car manufacturer Saleen has unveiled a new supercar concept at today’s New York Auto Show that boasts a 650hp V8 engine running on ethanol. Already being touted as the successor to the current S7 flagship, the new car is still in the design phase and will only go into production if it receives enough interest from show goers.

The concept carries the name S5S Raptor and it features a mid-mounted supercharged 5.0L V8 engine that can burn either petrol or 85% ethanol blended fuels. This engine develops a massive 650hp and 630 lb-ft of torque. The sprint to 60mph takes just 3.2 seconds and top speed is an estimated 200mph.

Other features include a lightweight aluminum chassis and composite body and a six-speed manual transmission sending drive to the rear wheels.

Stopping performance is guaranteed through the use of massive brake rotors measuring 15” (381mm) in the front and 13” (308mm) in the rear. Road holding traction is provided by the 275/35 ZR20 and 315/35/ZR20 Pirelli Rosso tires that wrap the 20” forged aluminum front and rear wheels respectively.

As this image reveals, the new concept is just as aggressive as the current mid-engined S7 supercar but it will be priced much lower than the $600,000 flagship if it were to enter production. If given the green light, Saleen claims the car could be in showrooms within two years with a price tag of $185,000.

'Roof line straight off an Audi TT coupe 'looks like.

I kinda likey.

The GRILL opening needs work though. It's "screen" (grill, whatever it is) needs to be "recessed" back a couple inches.

I like it, too. Sharp, but sexy.

The other neat thing about the Saleen S7 is that the Ford GT also come out of Saleen and is therefore related to the S7.

Neat.
