Great stuff. The narrator forgot to mention that this was where Gurney started the tradition of spraying champagne after a racing victory.

I find the 135 mph average speed amazing... including pitstops and driver changes. 40 years ago!! My hats off to those drivers and the drivers today that still race them.

Wonderful, wonderful video. It gives me goosebumps to remember Foyt, Gurney, and Ford beating the worlds best in France.

What a fantastic time for US auto racing and the middle of the muscle car craze. Except for the beginning of automobile mass production, this may be the absolute top of the US auto industry.

Great video, thanks for posting it. In those days the LeMans track used the actual highways. Today it is a closed race track. Back then some drivers waiting for the first pit stop to put on their safety belts. You can bet Ronnie Buchman didn't strap up after his LeMans's sprint.

I am excited to meet Mario at Awsum's house and have him autograph my GT on June 12th here in Fresno.
