All Time favorite car-The GT or something else

FGT. Absolutely. No question. Period.

No truer words... :usa

I think you know where I stand......:biggrin

I just don't understand all the hype about these fords... :willy :willy

:biggrin

Being that I just bought my GT it is hard to say juuuust how much I like it. It gets looks just like my Ferrari's do/did. For a modern car I would say it is towards the top of my list. I have owned a few cool cars.

For my favorite old cars it is definately the 68 Mustang (see sig line below).

Having recently just purchased a second GT, I'm just not sure yet if I like them.
I think I must get a third to help me decide.

The FGT goes deep into the childhood emotions of seeing Ford take on the Eurotrash. FGT is the best looking, best engineered, best driving auto I have every owned, driven, or wanted.

True measure of value.

Gentlemen,

The value of an object to an individual is hard to separate from its monetary value as any item could be sold and the money redeployed. If someone offered to trade me a Bugatti Veyron for my Ford GT I would do it so I could sell the Bugatti and buy four Ford GTs. But if you had to keep it, could not sell it, and could not supplement it with a second performance car. Is there any automobile that has ever been manufactured that you would trade your Ford GT for? The answer to that last question would represent the true measure of a car's value to its owner.

If the above stipulations had to be met, there has never been a car produced at any time in the history of the automobile that I would trade my Ford GT for. I, like many members of this forum, have a real emotional attachment to my Ford GT and the owners group associated with it, that goes way beyond automobile owner satisfaction. I own two aircraft, multiple motorcycles, a gaggle of cars, and a boat. If I was forced to keep only one of all of those vehicles, the decision would be easy. The Ford GT will stay with me as long as my heart's beating and my lungs are taking air.

On that score I am fortunate that I only have one son. Many of you have already heard my response to Charley's request, "Dad, are you ever going to let me drive the GT?" Absolutely son, "You can drive it to my funeral". I hope Charley passes it down to his son.

Now, I hope you give Charley a chance to drive your GT long before your time comes. Maybe after letting him first drive your Corbra for practice.

Obviously I am on the FGT bandwagon. I am not a multi-car guy anymore as I sold my other toys to roll them up into the GT. Best decision I ever made besides my wife and my dogs.

That said if I was a multi car guy and I could pick any car to add to them I always found the XJ 220 and the McLaren F1 to be timeless in their appeal. :cheers

your analogy is spot on, I agree 1000% you have nailed the true value of the gt, never thought about it like that, but I would not trade my gt for any other car

The GT really is an absolutely spectacular car. Still, if we're just dreaming about ideal cars and infinite capital here, I'd sure like to know what it's like to drive a McLaren F1, and a Koeniggsegg CCX, and a Pagani Zonda, if I were considering a possible stable mate for my Tungsten Beast.

Whoa, that sure says a lot for a GT to be in the ranking with an F1

I got the GT because it is just one car, there will not be a 2009 or even a 2015 GT that is better than the 05-06 GT, so there is no game here (360 to 430 to 599 etc etc etc). So I am biased, I will die with this car, even if I can't find fuel for it in 40 years (I'll be 80), it will still look good even standing still.....

Nothing better to me.

First - McLaren F1
Second - FGT

Too true. I love the F1. I'd love to drive one. And the CCX and Zonda too. But if we're sticking to my limit of FINITE capital, I'd rather have a 2nd GT than any of those cars. Still with FINITE capital, heck, a 3rd GT would be preferable.........probably. :biggrin

I'd have a very hard time turning down a trade for

GT40 P/1075

The only car to have won Le Mans twice!

as Chip pointed out, if you trade for this car, you wouldnt be able to drive it, you wont be able to enjoy it, and you can only look at it. since you cant sell it or trade it(as per Mr Becks rules), then you would have to take the bus everywhere:biggrin

no thanks Ill stay with my gt.:lol

Anyone recognize the guy standing beside the right rear fender of the GT40 in the picture that Ralphie posted with the white hair and the khakhi long jacket? He looks like a film star of the age, can't place him but he looks familiar.

He looks more like Mayor Bloomberg than any film star of that time that I can remember.

I was thinking the guy who played "Fish" on Barney Miller???

I was fortunate to buy a '69 Z28 out of college, which was the best car I ever drove until I got my FGT. Power, braking, and road handling are simply awesome, and it looks like it's speeding even when it's parked. I have a CSX4000 which my wife wont ride in, and she loves the FGT! Simply the best!!
