All Now-or-Some Latter

It also gives more time to bring bottles in to get the deposits, so we can afford it.

:lol
Kind of sounds like it :lol but not really...there is always the 'R' and the RS, or even both, with enough left over to buy another nice 05/06 :biggrin

Have you checked the price of the RS's lately? You could get the RS and R but you're not adding another '05/06 on that same budget. That would be some trick.

This approach is very reasonable.

I think the simple logic would be:
1) Do an application process for a set window of time. After that no more applications would be allowed.
2) Sequence the selected applications in order per the Ford weighted criteria.
3) Once the production process and initial car output established contact the first retail customers from the application list to start the purchase process.
4) Ford would continue down the list until all of the projected car production is matched up with a selected applicant.

I'm curious if a deposit will be required once the fortunate Ford customer is selected.

I hope so... may weed out the not so serious from the totally serious!

I wouldn't think so.

Remember, that if selected by Ford, you'll be able to order your new GT from a Ford dealer of your choice.

I thought if chosen you bought directly from Ford and they drop shipped it to an approved dealer?

That's the way I interpreted the process at the original announcement.

I would be amazed if there weren't deposits, including to sign up, with some pretty significant deposits as the position in the final 250 gets finalized. Ford will want to minimize churn (an initial deposit prevents the entire senior class from Central High from signing up, for example).

There should even be a refundable "application fee" of say 50k to further reduce the field.
Dealers I've dealt with have no clue how to spec out an f 150 much less a halo car like the NFGT

That is what I was referring to by the initial deposit - I meant to say it was at time of application.

Not true.

::: : If selected by Ford, a letter of "authorization to purchase" will be issued. The actual purchase agreement will be made between the letter holder and the Ford dealer of your choice. That dealer must also agree to the requirements (aka terms and conditions) to be established by Ford to become a "GT Dealer". ::: :

There is a separate, but similar, program for any Ford dealer wanting to personally purchase a GT.

All of this was outlined to us at the PDC visit at Rally X and communicated via letter or email to Ford dealers the week following the Rally. I'm pretty sure a copy of that communication has been posted on this Forum.

$50K up front on being told that you qualify would make sense, there could be folk admirably qualifed but without the financial wherewithall, so this would help cull those types

Well, if what I said about how we may purchase if selected was incorrect... then we can't give a deposit to Ford... It would have to be to a dealer... which would come after being selected.

The dealer being injected into the loop is new data that I'd not seen before. Every indication was the financial transaction was directly with Ford (including the contractual strings that they seem to want to prevent flipping) but that delivery was to the dealer. I suppose if Ford wants the dealers to deal with the money part because they are more equipped to do that, but who takes deposits, etc? What prevents the dealer from tacking the 100% ADM? It sounded like Ford had a method that would prevent that by doing it directly.

Things change though.

The plan was always to allow the buyer to select a dealer who would handle the transaction. Ford will be able to "steer" buyers to a sufficient number of cooperating dealers who won't play the ADM game.

There won't be ADM. Raj told us. Let's believe him. We know the process. Jeff just retold us all. Federal law requires consumers to buy from a dealer not a manufacturer. The dealerships that sign on to be a new GT dealer will agree to Ford's rules. They will make a profit selling the GTs to us for MSRP!

well, Tesla sells directly to the consumer...

Tesla only does in some states. Ford doesn't want that fight. You will be awarded allocation from Ford. Both you and the dealer selected, will be under contract from the application process, to follow Ford's wishes. Kind of like an A-plan or employee purchase. Both sides agree to play by Ford rules but Ford isn't the licensed dealer....

There is the "trade in" part of the deal that some Ferrari owners will be needing too.

I just meant that it may not be a federal law... maybe just State by State? Also when Dodge sold their Comp Coupes they sold through a vendor not thru Dodge.

I'm totally sure the powers to be at Ford know exactly what they are doing... if I am chosen I will follow their lead.
