Jim, Can you explain how you got "trained and certified" by Ford?I did my own recall today. Ford got tired of calling me and it was not convenient to bring my car in or be there when they did a mobile. So I went in Ford training and got certified to do my own recall.
The come-to-you team would be really preferred - essentially anyone who has experience with the GT. One of the dicey steps (for the inexperienced) is removal of the lower IP. While not difficult to get off, it has to be handled with great care. The middle part (above the START button) is only about 1" wide and if you don't handle it carefully it will want to fold there - creating a crease in the leather that you'll never get rid of. This piece must come completely out of the car and then back in again after the passenger airbag is replaced. The driver's side airbag is a piece of cake.
I watched the roaming team of two guys do a friend's GT - and these guys were REALLY good, respectful and careful.
You'd think that the dealerships probably have instructions for each car? What they've done with it, who knows. For those that still need to get this done, I guess one of the most important questions to the person(s) that will do the work is to ask how many GTs he/she has done before?Kendall
Do you know if Ford provides techs some sort of instructions etc.... ?
