Not sure if this has been posted already, but I couldn't find it by searching. A link to the video below was listed on the recall card. I've had my driver side bag replaced but still need to schedule the passenger side, which seems to be less involved than I had expected.

What's with all the rust on the lower metal panel?

Unpainted ferrous metal + humidity. Light coating of rust protects it from further corrosion!

Guys see that on the air bag inflator cans and think that is the cause of the air bag problem. No.

In your case it is magnetic resonance.

That guy knew his stuff. I wouldn't want to have someone get that wrong after seeing some of the YouTube videos of guys setting off airbags.

Ford is really making an effort to get these air bags replaced. The video is well done, and I also received two separate notices by mail today. Local dealer service centers do not have the same sense of urgency, however.

Found same in my car.... in lieu of a dehumidifier in garage, I use from Girots these desiccant bags, one per car...

I agree that the guy in the video knew what he was doing.
Love the use of the torque wrench.
The driver side is easy.
The other side demands some experience.
Hope that I can find someone like that to do mine!

Thank you for sharing it, I have not had mine done just because I thought that it would be much more invasive, and did not want some knuckle head kid at the Ford dealer touching my car

Notice how the new canister design is on the psssenger side, the wire is a plug and play vs. the one he cut to remove the old one from the assembly, also the black caps used as a shimmy so the canister secures better in place. Since you may not know who is replacing yours, I suggest you insist on using painters tape everywhere prior to the start of the job and make sure there’s someone on the driver side holding that part of the dash while it’s being removed so it won’t bend or break at the area above the radio, as they say it’s easy if you know what you’re doing!

Very cool! I always am super careful pulling out plastic pieces, if your not super careful you can snap it. Thanks for showing. Something you hope you will never see deploy.
