I guess the comment above at 1450 bhp is the max known on the forum? Man that has got to be tough on the engine?

Not necessarily, unless one has his foot in the radiator all the time. As you know, simply driving down the road the engine isn't under ANY boost at all. So whether you have 23lbs of boost AVAILABLE or not makes no diff. Engine wear is the same as a stocker under those conditions.

BUT, each time one uses that 23lbs (or whatever) there's definately going to be more wear than is created using 12lbs. So, it all boils down to the frequency with which one's right foot is used.

Here's the thing: A Viper can make more power with a BUILT engine. Show me where you can take a Viper engine, throw a set of turbos on it, and reliably make over 1000rwhp and I'll call it the king. No question is the Viper motor a ridiculous platform to make power, but as far as making huge power as the long block came from the factory, the FGT is as bulletproof as it gets. I do believe Torrie has been running the stock long block at around 1100rwhp for about 30,000 miles.

Given 330 cubes for the FGT and 505 cubes for today's Viper, one should imagine, mod for mod, the Viper OUGHT to produce more H.P./torque or something is completely screwy.

I don't think this is necessarily the case, look at the supras with thier little 3 liters.....I have got to think we will end up seeing some crazy numbers out of the 5.4 given the sheer number of GT500s out there.

The only "claim" the Viper has in the end would be most HP on pump gas which is meaningless when you are talking about cars with 1200-2000 HP.

ford Modular motors like we have in our GT's have been modded to produce 2500 HP on alcohol. the motors are run in tube frame mustang drag cars that run 6 second 1/4 mile times at 200+ mph :beer2:

here is link to the world fastest modular motored 1/4 mile car. its a mustang with 4 valve heads and twin turbos on alcohol.

it ran 6.31 @ 229 mph > http://www.livernoismotorsports.com/tab.phtml?gk=490&t=Racing
