So.. I'm going thru the Service manual and I find out our 21st century Super car has " Coal Chutes " I'm thinking the manual was written by and old school Ford Guy who maybe helped design some early Ford factories .. !! Now when I describe them to car show goers it's a cool term that adds some Henry Ford Charm to this Hi-Tech super car...
When I thought about my Coal Chutes I decided they were dark and dreary so I wanted to add some color and highlight them for future conversations. After I had some color there I liked the contrast and decided I need to balance it out and do some more areas.. By the time I was finished I came up with a final finished design that I am happy with !! I know it's not for everyone but I love it..
I had two design theme inspirations for the front. I Have always liked the classic Heritage hammer head center stripe but I wanted to make it my own. I also wanted to pay Homage to The 1966 Ken Miles GT 40 and do my own version o the Headlight tear drop.. I wanted to give my tear drops a little more attitude so it's a combo of Ken Miles & Bad Boy Club..
I call the tail light area "After Burn". I really love the design of that slight inset area of the rear fender that transitions into the tail light area so I wanted to show it off. I played with the cars natural shapes and lines and this is what I came up with..
Proud to say I designed , Hand cut and installed all the pieces!!! Not a computer or plotter in sight.. old school methods .. It was a labor of love and a fun way to give Stormy a new attitude.. I just celebrated my 3 yr anniversary of owning this awesome machine !!!
