Acceleration put into perspective

INSANE!!!:eek
Yea I have a friend of mine who is the engine guy for Bob Tasca III and we just made arrangements to go to Indy to the US Nationals in September. If you have never been near these cars in the pits when they burp the engines you have to put that on the bucket list. You know it coming and you still jump out of your skin:willy

How much of a head start would I need with a non TT FGT!!! :eek

And isn't it just astonishing how you can actually FEEL THE SOUND WAVES from those nitro burners go right thru you???!!! :banana :willy:willy:willy

there just isnt enough head start for that race:lol

interesting, its amazing how you can control any machine while being subjected to 8 g's.

Putting this all into perspective:

You have in your garage a Ford GT twin-turbo. Over a mile up the road, a Top Fuel dragster is staged & ready to launch down a quarter-mile strip as you consider looking in your garage. You have the advantage of a brand new car. You look at the GT and wonder about giving it a polish.

The dragster launches & starts. You keep keep looking at that GT,
but you hear an incredibly brutal whine that sears your eardrums &
within 3 seconds the dragster passes you.

He gets to the finish line, a quarter-mile away from where your GT is beautifully garaged . Think about it - from a standing start, the dragster had
spotted you 200 MPH & not only passed you, but nearly blasted your garage doors off their hinges.

That's acceleration !

Edited for Empty so it makes more sense.

:rofl:rofl:rofl.....................................:tongue

And our esteemed member Eddie Hill sold his dragster and bought a GT:thumbsup

And maybe because living in Texas the AC works better in the GT:ack

On a fact note if you had to make a return run you would win in the GT.

The Top Fuel guy would be still rebuilding his motor:lol

Pockets: You could just trailer your FGT to the strip and unload it at the finish and say you won.

Beating a top fuel dragster is great. Beating one without putting miles on your FGT...priceless.:lol

tpraceman: Not to mention trying to turn around.

I'm just glad we have Neil around - that understated Brit humor cracks me up every time.

Naaaaaaaaaah. 'Too obvious. I'd wanna at least pull off a Bernie Madoff caliber fraud.

Love your posts. Do you really have a GT:wink

Absa-tootley! Drop in sometime when you're up this way, Jim, an' I'll escort ya to my office for an up close look-see!:banana:thumbsup:cheers

Yeah, but they only run 1000ft now!

At either distance, though, that's serious speed and acceleration.
