Ac compressor

Re the question from February: Yes, you should run the AC in the winter several times a month to keep the seals lubed and prevent corrosion buildup. Also, when you go to the defrost function on the selector, it engages the AC to dry the air before blowing it on the windshield, so that counts for operating the AC too.

Re the rebuild kit. I'd be very surprised if the compressor in our GTs is different internally than similar compressors on other Ford cars. A little investigation should find a rebuild kit that will contain the same seals.

The heat still functions with A/C on. Better on cold wet days in fact. I live in a wetter than typical area and using A/C regularly (in winter) with the heat on helps keep our vehicles drier inside. Hotter, drier air on tap. Even with defrost not specifically selected. I didn't know defrost activated A/C though.
