ABS Module Help Needed

I have a 2006 GT project car that I am working on that has a bad ABS control module. My Ford dealer says that it is a discontinued part. I have shipped it to one of the companies that advertises the ability to repair the modules but they have inspected this one and deemed it unrepairable. I have found one damaged module on E Bay but there is no guarantee that it works. It seems to me that the GT uses the same controller hardware as a 2003 Mustang Cobra or other Mustangs from that era. It seems that one with the right tools would be able to read the eeprom in the GT module and clone the GT software into the Mustang hardware. The GT community has always been the most resourceful bunch of people that I have ever encountered so I'd love to hear some ideas. It seems inevitable that other cars will begin to have issues with these as capacitors fail and deteriorate the circuit board inside the control module.

Thanks in advance

I had one go bad. Torrie from fast parts network sourced me a new one, when none were available.

I have an F150 and frequent the F150 Forum online. I don't how well this appli4s to the GT, but here is a discussion of reprogramming ABS modules using Forscan. Do you have Forscan?

Thank you, guys. I did check with my dealer as well as with Torrie. I had to replace one years ago when they were available and I had to take the car to the dealer to program the module. I am not exactly certain of what they had to program. I don't believe that they have the VIN programmed into them so they are likely just configuring basic coding to establish which options the car has. Though the GT really only has one option.

Thanks again, Dan. If you have one that will be great. Though the problem solver in me would still like to figure out how to resolve this issue in the inevitable event that this happens to someone else in the future.

I don't know what went wrong for you. I just clicked the link above, and it took me to that thread in the F150 Forum.

Your internet provider is filtered from accessing that website. This could be for lots of reasons, suspected malware/hacker hosting, geo-filtered as F150s not sold everywhere in the world etc…. Anyway, the website owner’s security policy has restricted access, and there is little you can do(contact website to change policy, change ISPs, use a proxy to mask your source). A good portion of the thread was the difference between a blank replacement module and a used one, already programmed. The standard windows forscan was good for the used, already programmed module, but you needed to run some beta release of forscan to program a new blank module. I know forscan works on the GT to program keys, but not sure to what extent other things are supported vs a more common F150.

If you're really in Australia the f150 web site has a foreign address filter set for your area.
