Our buddy Gene Martindale took a track pack 2011 GT500 and ran around V.I.R in 2:58.4. For reference, at the original lightning lap the Ford GT ran in, I believe it did 3 minutes flat, and I believe Gene's best time is just over 2:57. Pretty amazing that a 2011 GT500 Track Pack car will turn virtually identical times to the GT on a course like V.I.R with the same guy behind the wheel.

FAST!

That is some amazing driving. I am envious of his talent.

After doing Parhump with McGowan in the 5.0 Mustang GT with track pack, I think I'll pass riding with those guys again. My stomach and my semicircular ear canals cannot take it. Wow, that's fabulous. Are we going to see one at the Rally?

Fast

That is a seriously fast lap of the "whole" course. That configuration is not used too much. Great drive...

I think that boy can drive !!

data logging

I really like the data logging and camera display. Anyone know what equipment is involved?

Thanks,

Steve

I think it may be a Traq Mate.

Ditto Roketman!

Curious - I haven't had enough 'seat time' in my driving simulator. Is VIR on any of the Forza versions? Or is there another Xbox game that has the track setup the way we're going to drive it?

Would be nice to get a feel for it before arriving.

And to think: upon subsequent investigation of the car, it was found that the handbrake had been hanging-up. :eek

Are we going to use the "Lightning" course (the on in the video) or the traditional Long course, which is a touch shorter that keeps the back straight in tact, going into "rollercoaster"? Mix it up??
