What are we doing here?

By the way, Francesca looks beautiful - as she always does!

Trying to get from the dense magical fairy forest the place was when we bought it to something more period appropriate. Much of it went in today. Should be nearly done by tomorrow. Boxwoods, columnar beech trees, wooly thyme, blue grass, etc.

Bad pic from original MLS listing but you could barely see the house. Sitting in the chairs in front, the view was the back of an unkempt juniper. Amelanchier, crab, an entire truckload of pachysandra (literally), massive junipers, overgrown yews, overgrown hydrangeas, etc all gone.

What are we doing here?

Either looking for Jimmy Hoffa or installing a sprinkler system.

The dumptruck of pachysandra. A veritable critter kingdom.

Damn Dave you weren't kidding when we spoke. To bad you can't just tractor it out in the woods, pile it high and burn it. I got the first two done, next year I'll burn it. :banana

And since when are you such a botanist?

And since when are you such a botanist?

I was in the car with FlorIdaho Chris in California when he pointed out a very specific genus of tree and mentioned (without irony) "I was really into botany for about 5 years." My goal is to acquire 4% of the knowledge he has in every field.

The house is like the GT, very unique, I love that era, clean lines, not too modern, very warm and uncluttered. the pains youre going through setting everything up will pay off later when your kicking back on the sofa with a drink in your hand and everywhere you look has turned out like you imagined. I went through this three years ago. its well worth it.

Gettin there.

Looks Great Dave, I know how proud ya"ll must be. I can see the kids playing in that Beautiful yard.

Mid-century modern is my fav! Used to have one.

I know what a labor of love it is to restore these old houses.
My wife and I redid our 1860 Victorian while living in it with 4 kids, 3 dogs and a cat, over a year.
Your house is beautiful!
Congrats.
Mark

Is that a dip in the sidewalk or an illusion? Hope you fixed the backyard first to get use of the pool all summer.

Damn hawk eye, one of the slabs is about 1/2 inch down. I've been playing demolition man in the back myself all year. It's been so rainy, muggy and hot that we haven't even opened the pool.

Come to Florida and I will show you what rainy, muggy and hot really is.

Is that a tar and gravel roof?

Well done DBK. Looks modern, clean and vintage all at the same time. Kinda like the GT.
