Has anyone had an A/C compressor fail to cycle? My A/C compressor fails to turn on, even though all the circuits seem to be working fine (and the system has a full charge) according to local Ford mechanic. They measured the A/C clutch coil resistance, and said the clutch needed replacing. In looking at the compressor unit, the mechanic mentioned a small copper-colored "button" toward the rear of the compressor (Held in by a screw clip), and said he'd never seen anything like it. It is part of the coil actuator wiring harness. We are not sure what the function of this part is, and if it might be a source of failure? It doesn't seem to be listed as a serviceable part. Does anyone out there know what this part is and what function it may play? Thanks!
