More progress to report: The bodyshell is now completed, and I've kicked-off my least-favourite part of these projects, namely painting. I laid down two coats of epoxy primer, to be followed by filling and blocking. Then two coats of sealer followed by probably five coats of black. I'm going with single-part for the topcoat because I think the base/clear would be too shiny and not "traditional-looking". Eagle-eyes might spot the Model A door handles, I also tried to uses Model A hinges and latches, but had to modify the heck out of them to make things work.

that is impressive skill, as chip mentioned its one thing to be able to do one aspect of the build well but to do it all to this level..... very impressive indeed... dave's mind must be as neoplastic as a new born to learn all those skills so quickly. cant wait to see the end result.

just seems like a very fun project..

He probably just had a 'there' vs. 'their' moment. I'm plagued with 'em... ;-)

With sudden renewed interest in this thread, I thought I'd better update everyone. After spending three months building the body, I spent another two prepping and painting it, black of course. Then, in the middle of the lockdown a bunch of us got together and lifted the body onto the frame - took a bit of adjusting and jiggling but got it done. Then I had to reinstall all the wiring and stuff. I learned how to veneer and covered the dash in burled walnut. After doing all this I could drive it again, so woke up the neighbors as I chugged around . The videos are massive (30+ megs) and I haven't figured out how to post them here, sorry. Currently on the toughest part making the fenders. Step 1; make a wire template of the shape you'd like. Step 2; cutout a cardboard pattern from it. Step 3; spend hours wheeling, shrinking, cutting and welding til it looks like its supposed to! I'm nearly finished with the rears, but the fronts will be a bitch coz they're about six feet long. If this stupid lockdown keep up the car will be done before the end of the RR-93.jpgRR-96.jpgRR-96.jpgRR-97.jpgRR-99.jpgRR-101.jpgyear
