2020 differences??

The Ford delivery specialist informed me last week that Ford made performance changes to the 2020 models. He said the intercoolers are doubled in size VS last year along with a few other mods including upgraded engine tuning. He also said Ford has not released any new horsepower numbers yet, but felt they would be noticeably increased. Not sure if there is any validity. Has anyone else heard this, or have any details?

It is a very, very difficult struggle for me to keep from unloading completely about this right now. All I can say is that the entirety of this situation is wildly unacceptable/unprofessional, and it does a great disservice to both loyal GT enthusiasts buying the car and people like the delivery specialists inexplicably being forced to fly blind delivering it. You should hear the changes this week.

Thanks DBK. I hope I did not get the delivery guy in trouble for posting that. Super nice guy. I'll be on the look-out for the real scoop.

You definitely did not. The delivery specialists are uniformly great, especially so when given the tools to do their job. Trust me, this utterly ridiculous situation has been going on for weeks. I can't say anyone else in the business of selling $600k cars has ever tried the methodology of "You must first buy the car for us to tell you what's in it....eventually."

Unfortunately the Delivery Specialist have had their hands tied behind them on a lot of specifics about the New GT At delivery to the customer! Ridiculous situation! He’ll I own a 2017 and many things and specifications are unknown!

I’m pretty sure the VIN is different. I hope that answers ALL of your questions.

As many of you know I tried do to do a list of comparisons of base costs and option costs for each model year, but basically got little enthusiasm for this.
DBK maybe everyone here would like to see a list of all items and options and the respective pricing for each year. This is really for general knowledge, info on pricing to see how things are changing at Ford/plant as well as potential upgrades that can done to earlier cars.
As an example my MY 2017 had problems with the rear glass cracking under heavy stress. It was covered under warranty.
But another solution was to replace it with the plexi glass similar to other series. It was an easy fit and solution. In my case i have the proper MY glass in a box, brand new and the plexi glass on the car. This for me was a better option that just replacing the glass and having the same issue potentially again.
I also did the same thing with the TI exhaust.
Just my humble 2 cents.

I don't understand how analysis of the delta in price year over year is relevant other than comparing precisely how offensive the dollar amounts we're spending is. If people awaiting their allocation want a price list, they can just call their Concierge and get it. They cannot get the pricing of the prior years. If you have a car already, option price increases are of little relevance. Everything has gone up. Some things marginally, some a fairly high percent increase. Absent the changes in the Series cars, very little about the options has changed.

This isn't exhaustive but....

2017-2018 Competition
2019-2020 Carbon Series
2017-2020 Heritage Edition

No changes
Calipers - same.
Standard available paints - same.
Stripes - same.
Lowers - same
Wheels - same.
Lugs - same.
Harness Bars - same.
Steering Wheel - same.
Indoor Car Cover - same.
Outdoor car cover - same.

Interiors - Addition of Dark Energy Upgrade full black leather, trim piece change in Launch Control (I think) .
Exhaust - Ti standard from 2020+.

Issue at hand

There is no rational explanation for why the engineering changes for the 2020+ cars have not been detailed to the purchasers of the car at this point. There's even less of a rational explanation for why the Delivery Specialists aren't armed with this knowledge (yes, some DO know, but some don't). This stuff has been known since before the first 2020 car was delivered. I really like the delivery guys 1) because I see them here often and 2) because I feel they are most likely the best part of the purchasing experience. They arrive on a special day with a mega purchase that is a culmination of many years of anticipation. For them to not be able to utilize their detailed knowledge and the talents they were hired for is astonishing.

When my mid 2019 was being built, I asked at MM what changes have occurred and was told at least the transmission coolers were up graded, not sure about the intercooler. These changes may be happening as production proceeds not necessarily by year. If I recall this was also the case for the 05-06 GTs.

I saw your post about the rear window. The one draw back of the polycarbonate widow are the holes! Rain and wash water enter!!

When we went to the factory tour 4 weeks ago, I was also told 2020s with the intercooler upgrade had a horsepower increase, and the number was going to be released the next week. The next week came and went and no release. I asked someone at MM and they didnt know as to why no release of info. I didnt post about it since I felt it might put someone on the spot about telling me about it. In any case its at least strange that theyve made a weird deal about it. Im getting the car very soon and would love to know

Concierge: What is your preference for the GT?
Me: Do u know what the Heritage or special model spec will be for 2021?
Concierge: No, we do not have that information at this time. You can order now but it will be for a “regular” car
Me : Ok , put me down for a Heritage then.?!?

I totally understand the frustration with that, but they can only do what they can with the information given to them.
