2010 F1 Cars are horribly ugly.

I have been debating all day how to chime in on this post. Well, the reality is for me, I would MUCH rather watch F1 no matter how or when, than Asscar *(used to be a fan). That said, F1 at least most times you can catch sunday AM and then get on with your day.

And yes, modern F1 cars will never be able to be vintage raced. It is quite amazing what it takes to even start one.

Wonder what the Ferarri team would do if they had a rash of broken tachometers --- start a thread...???. :rofl

Chip you missed the dorsal fins and snow plows which some claim are front wings.

I guess Bernie needs his driveway plowed. Ugly would be okay if the racing was exciting. But ugly and boring is horrible unless you live in Europe and that is the major auto racing shown.

The new aero regs make driving close almost impossible according to post-race reports. McLaren and Schumi complained about how boring the race was.

Dave

PS I see Bernie got a new watch, Hublot, for his collection. That was the lead story on the Official F1 website for most of this morning.

I'm not real hot on the new Camaro or Charger, but I think the new Challenger is beautiful. Too big & too heavy, but great lines. It's not a Ford however, so I'll never own one.

Chip

the new cobra jet is my fav factory racer :cool there was one at the Mojave Mile that went just as fast as my GT :cheers

Some of the ugliest F1 cars in the past made for some spectacle of racing... Those F1 cars in the 70's were horrid! Tremendous innovations from aero, and monicoque construction...

That said: Chip, I'm with you. It's not that they cannot be pretty, it's that they cannot be pretty with the current set of guidelines and rules.

F1, 1965 to 2005

F1 cars from 1965, 1975, 1985, 1995, & 2005. All of these are better looking than today's.

I guess this will always be one of my favorites - Phil Hill in the Ferrari F1 156 "Sharknose" at the Nurburgring's Karussell...

And, a more modern (& very good looking car) on the Karussell...

And, its original debut in 1964 with Phil Hill/Bruce McLaren on the Karussell...

with the increase in "technology" (I will never understand the rational thought of having your car on life support just to fire it up) so increased the cost. Chip, great montage of cars. They went from Gentlemen racers (art and beauty) to corporate racers (rolling billboards) IMHO.
