20 lb boost gauge install (Speedhut)

I had Rich Brooks install a 4.0 Whipple back in 2015, right before FGT Rally X, along with a Spec clutch and some other goodies, including a set of Speedhut gauges. While I immensely enjoyed the extra thrust from the Whipple, I was disappointed that the factory boost gauge no longer functioned properly. I figured that someday I would get around to rectifying this, but what prompted me to finally act was the generous offer from member @centerpunch who had an extra Speedhut 20-lb boost gauge with separate pressure transducer, that he was willing to give away to a Forum member who could use it.

I tackled this last weekend, and during the process, found some other minor issues that needed fixing, like a broken knee-pad mounting clip, and a loose temp control knob stop-screw. I hadn't torn into this area since I installed my short-throw shifter and did my subwoofer relocation, right after I bought my car. Overall a fun and satisfying little project. The new gauge works great, and has an adjustable warning light (which I mounted the switch for on the dash panel). Thanks are in order to centerpunch, as well as Rich Brooks and Dan Schoneck for answering a couple of questions I had along the way. What a great community we have here.

That looks just like mine now. Except I haven't got around to replacing the supercharger yet...

Bringing this back up..... I just got my set of Speedhut gauges. DakotaGT did you paint the bezel of the Speedhut gauges silver to better match the look of the stock gauges? If so what specific color did you use and how did you tape off the gauges to paint? Thanks.

...and a loose temp control knob stop-screw.
Does this tighten the knob or just stop it? My "mix door" is not working? How can I diagnose that it was a loose screw vs a stuck mix door or burned out mix door motor?

Actually, when I had Rich Brooks (TheGTGuy) do some work on my car prior to Rally X, I had him swap out my (fully functioning) factory gauges with the panel from Speedhut, and yes he did paint them. When I got this boost gauge, I planned on painting it to match, and Rich told me it was DuPont #2994, but I never made it that far because I found that it is simple to just swap the bezels on those gauges.

There IS a set-screw along the side of the temp control dial (low enough on the profile of the dial that you can only access it by removing the center magnesium tunnel/console), and if that is too loose, it won’t engage the knob that adjusts the blend door. But the parts I found loose in my dial panel were not for that, but for a “position limiter” stop which I assume is to prevent people from strong-arming their dial and rotating it too far and damaging the mechanism.

It doesn’t take too long to remove the magnesium tunnel and unscrew that knob/control panel from the bottom and see what you have. Hopefully you’ll get lucky and find that the set screw is loose.

Just confirming the DuPont #2994 is called "White Sand"? You swapped your bezels with a different bezel from Speedhut?

As I said, that’s just the information that Rich gave me- I never obtained the paint because I found that I could just swap the bezels. You could reach out to Rich and see if he would confirm that paint code. Yes, I swapped bezels between two Speedhut tachometers. Not sure if those are interchangeable with the factory gauge bezels. All of the “small” gauges are the same size of course.
