Simply stunning!

I know everyone thinks the '67 500 is the "best" one, and I love those too. But the '68 KR has always been my favorite. This would make a nice stablemate to the GT, right down to the contrasting colors!

Oops! The wife just caught me looking at it!! :willy

For what it is worth I remember those cars well from new . They were overweight and underpowered lo-po hydraulic cam land yachts ---and only got worse in the insuing years. They were not a serious car nor were they really accepted by the speed types of the era . They would get eaten alive by 396 Camaros, the just introduced (when they were real) Z 28's any Vette over 350 HP etc etc etc.

A friend had a dual quad set up 428 500KR and I used to piss him off by beating him with my Turbo 302. The 428 sounds good, weighs too much. :lol

The truth hurts...

But it's the truth nevertheless. While I love old Ford muscle cars, the GT has, for the time being at least, cured the "incurable romantic" in me that pined for one of the old sleds. I think that is why I find the GT so appealing. Classic design and style that connects with the past with none of the spongy brakes, marshmellow suspension, etc. of the muscle cars of the "good old days". Hell, even the original GT40s were marginal (at best) road cars.

Was a 428 CJ anybetter in performance? I know Ford atleast did something right with the Boss 429.

Gt500 Kr

I agree with all of the comments above, both pro and con with regard to the KR. It is as different a car from the GT as the GT is from the original Cobra. Bottom line, I enjoy all three of them, each for a different reason. That said, if I could only keep one, it would be the GT.

Perhaps that's why.....

Ford chose that slogan. It's one of the most commonly asked questions. Which one do you like the best or if you could only keep one which wiould it be? I never need to think about that for more than a nanosecond. Pointing to the GT I say, "It's the One".

Agreed

As my sons tell me, the KR and the Cobra might be fun to own, but the GT is fun to drive. Not that either of them have driven any of these cars. But every weekend the request is to go out in the GT. At 20 and 17, if they are still asking to go for a ride, I'm driving!

That about sums up my feelings as well. I've owned my '68 GT500KR convertible some 5 years now and I doubt it that I've put on more than 100 miles. Pretty to look at for sure but not alot of fun to drive. Then again I could probably say the same thing(the "fun to drive" part) about ANY 60's production car.

Can you guys come up with some exceptions.

I will say that it has gone up quite abit in value during those 5 years since I bought it. Picked it up for 95k rotiserrie(sp?) restored.
