I was at the Shelby American Automobile Club's National Convention at Pittsburgh International Raceway last Friday/Saturday. I arrived at the track at 5:45 a.m. on Saturday and noticed that the Ford Performance display had been left unattended... big mistake! I took the opportunity to slide my '65 GT350 in between the pre-production 2020 Shelby GT500 and the 2019 GT350R that Ford had on display. It was a photo op that I simply could not pass up!

As I was taking the photos, however, I was very much taken aback by how much smaller the '65 is in comparison with the two late model Shelbys! The '65 looks almost tiny next to the other two beasts! The size difference notwithstanding, all three of them look pretty damn good!2.25E.jpg5S547 at SAAC 2019 (3E).jpgH3 (3E).jpg

GREAT shots!!! Yes cars have gotten HUGE, heck even a foxbody would look tiny next to S550's

I am, of course, partial to my car. Having said this, however, those two late model Shelbys sure do look good... er, I mean NASTY! Additionally, one cannot argue with the performance figures that the newer Shelbys put down. Nonetheless, I was grinning from ear-to-ear as I was driving my '65 the 300+ miles out to the Pittsburgh International Race Complex!

Cool comparison. Funny thing is when you are next to the cars alone, the Gen I's don't look small and the modern cars don't look big.

That all changes once they are in close proximity.

Parked next to my GT, my 2013 GT500 looks like a truck.
