Thanks for the encouragement guys. I had to take some time off from my search due to the disappointment but back in the saddle. I thought I was going to see a great car at a great price but turned out to be an average car at an average price. I probably should have purchased the car but I could not see past all the cosmetic issues and was concerned at the cost to correct.

You made the right decision. I agree with others that if there were undisclosed cosmetic issues, maybe not a well cared for car. You will find the right one.

The "cost-to-correct" is min 3x the labor/materials

-aggravation
-right but not perfect attempts
-living with it

Trust me, I did 3 round trips on my SL until the actual mercedes factory fixed to perfection

Buy a perfect one from Shelby and credit 1.5x in savings to

peiserg, the difference is if you were selling you would probably disclose the flaws or have them fixed before selling. Very frustrating when people misrepresent a car for sale, especially when there are travel and inspection costs involved.

Thank you GT35065. That was the case I had to point out all the cosmetic flaws and she acted like this was the first time she had seen them. Dont think there was deliberate misrepresentation and the price on the car was resonable. Not to bash women but they look at cars different than men do. The car was sold sight unseen to another gentlemen.

I don't know why you don't just call Shelby and buy a GT from him? I bought two sight unseen from him. They had no paint issues and were probably as clean as the day they shipped from the Ford dealer to the original owner - and I didn't pay him more than market for either car. They were both very fairly priced to me.

I look at the two of them every day and I have not a single complaint about either purchase. He did all of my work for me in that he checked out each one from top to bottom and saved me the trip down there. There are not many dealers out there who I would trust on a 200k+ purchase, where it's a sight unseen deal and money is sent before the car is picked up.

If I was buying a Veyron from him, I'd do the deal the same way I did the last two and not think about it. There are many on this board who have done exactly what I did through Shelby and I don't think you'll find anyone here who has anything negative to say about their dealings with him...and that goes a long way.

You really can't make a mistake buying through them. No one knows more about these cars than they do either. Take it for what it's worth.
