Update on my half shaft issues....

I'm wondering if Ford should issue a TSB or recall for this issue. Halfshafts loosening themselves and falling out can be a traumatic experience, expecially if one is far from home when it happens. Although I have no reason to believe my GT has this problem, I am tempted to ask the dealer to...

    I finally did it.

Ford manual says Motorcraft 5w50 full synthetic or EQUIVALENT. You can get Castrol fully synthetic Syntec 5w50 at Wal-Mart for $5.52 a quart... Eric

    Tire Life

American sports cars tend to have long clutch lives relative to European sports cars. Part of this is due to the fact American cars tend to have more torque and require less clutch slippage to get moving. Part is cultural: Americans love to hammer the clutch doing burnouts, drag racing and...

    Ford Race Header/Exhaust

CTx, The Accufab pipe is only $1,499, $1,200 less than the other muffler you are citing. Do you feel that it (the Accufab) wont meet your needs? Eric

    Ford Race Header/Exhaust

GTx, That would definately get you the "noise" you are looking for at a low cost. There should also be some weight savings. However, the relatively large muffler will still impede cooling air exit from the rear of the car. Eric

GT in September Road & Track

FordGTguy, The GT WON the 0-100-0 test as well. There really was no overall "ranking" per se. They did say the Viper was the best American car at the track and the Ferrari the best European at the track. Keep in mind the GT was the same red press car that has been BEAT to Hell over the last...

    Poor Man's Transaxle Cooler

My understanding is there IS an internal pump for this transaxle. This pump is NOT shown in the shop manual (indeed no internals of the transaxle are shown in the shop manual) because the transaxle is meant to be serviced as a "package" (i.e., if repair is needed, the dealer just removes it and...

GT in September Road & Track

Ford GT in September Road & Track September issue of Road & Track has a feature that pits the American sports cars (Viper, Z06 and GT) Against the best from Europe (Gallardo, new 911 Turbo and the F430). The resutls are too comprehensive for me to list here, but the GT had the best 1/4 mile...

    Poor Man's Transaxle Cooler

Thanks for the kind words Nota4re. I like to save money when I can and when it is prudent. Next thing I want to do is replace that big honkin' muffler with something that will lower the engine bay temps but without rattling my teeth or giving me a headache (highway drone). By the way, that...

    Poor Man's Transaxle Cooler

Forum Members, One of the surest methods to solve the transaxle venting problem is to install the Ford Racing Performance Products (FRPP) transaxle cooler for the GT. However at $1,300 it was a little too much for what I was willing to pay to solve this problem. Therefore I set out to rig up my...
