    Joe Macura & Making A 427 Sideoiler run 7000+

FE Engine I still have that engine it is a period correct side oiler with the wide bearing NASCAR crank and Chrysler style NASCAR rods. I suppose I will have to put medium riser heads and manifold back on if I sell it as originally built. I will leave that up to the widow because I am not...

It actually pulls very well as low as 2500 in second gear, in fact it will light the tires even at that low a speed so you have to be very delicate with throttle application.

The 385 is a great engine design proper bore spacing and good cylinder heads available. I tried to find suspension build pictures but they must be on my old computer. The ignition is a crank fired MSD 6AL controlled by a FAST XFI 2.0 ECU. I have a Daily dry sump pump that pulls 13" of vacuum...

FE Engine I use 114 octane leaded but sometimes VP16, the car (CSX3170) is an original car. It has been invited to the muscle car exhibit at the Grand National Roadster Show this month. Here is a shot of a sign board that will be with the car that tells a bit about it.

FE Engine The engine uses the standard main bearings of the Shelby block but Honda sized rod bearings . Rods are steel, wanted them to live for awhile. Bore is 4.330 stroke is 3.75 Compression is 15 to 1 cam is 287 @.050 and 292 @.050 LIFT .818. It sounds like it would be radical but my...

Thank you, I was trying to get a broader power range and was very happy with the results. Engine made 431 lb/ft and 266 hp at 3250. At 9000 it makes 461 lb/ft and 790 hp so it has a huge power range.

It is interesting to see how far engine technology has come. The FE has a very bad short turn radius and the valves are way outboard of modern engine designs like the GM LS series. I have a Shelby aluminum block FE with essentially the same valve locations and port geometry as the originals...

    Motor Trend NFGT testing

It would be interesting to get John Hennessey's thoughts on higher boost levels perhaps with 105 unleaded fuel and expected reliability

    Ford GTs so far

That is GREAT news, can hardly wait.

    Ouch! But deserved...

I hope it ends up as a loss for him after damages are calculated. So many people can't wait to get a car and this jerk pulls a stunt like that. Taking on a company with buildings full of lawyers shows his ignorance.

    Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction

That is pretty bad especially when so many of us are waiting to order and get our cars. I hope Ford pursues a strong legal remedy against anyone who sells their car in violation of the agreement.

    Motor Trend NFGT testing

Heat will really hurt power and Willow needs power for great lap times. I would bet around 1.24 for the GT under those conditions, the McLaren time is outstanding for a street legal car when you look at typical race car laps there.

Thank you Chip, I guess an additional autoclave is out of the question.

    3rd & 4th Year Order Process Update

Dave, Are they at a sustainable production rate that will support 250 cars per year now? Can they produce more than 5 cars per week if necessary?

    The Ring

2018 Porsche 911 GT2 RS sets record 6:47.3 Nurburgring lap time. Ford should really consider taking a production car over with one of their best drivers and show the Porsche guys what proper aero will do.

    Ford GT vs McLaren 720S

Danny Popp ran a 2.22 at the 2016 Optima Challenge in a 2003 Corvette on 200 TW street tires, engine is a Lingenfelter built NA LS making about 600 whp. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=99XawPKacUs

Interesting: 10 million lines of software code – more than a Lockheed Martin F-35 Lig

So true, much more difficult to write efficient code, faster processors result in sloppier code.

    Track Time

Looks like mid to high 140's with the chicane, not too bad considering the cost of the GT and newness too. I would not say the Camaro was struggling, there was a lot of coasting going on in the corners in that Camaro. In fairness it is a lot easier to follow than to lead in a situation like...

    Road and Track

Ford should respond to their subterfuge by not giving them a car to test at normal altitudes while providing test cars to other publications. The only good thing about R&T is Randy Pobst, everything else is mediocre.
