Not as relevant to you since you own a viper already but if someone is debating buying one or the other, I'd also say that the GT has a much higher likelyhood of retaining value vs modern vipers (just my opinion) so while the cost spread is wide initially the long term depreciation cost may be...

Not sure its as relevant given the 13 year spread in production but i own a '92 viper and fully agree with Atomic GTs comments. In general i enjoy driving the GT more than any other car i've driven... Bernie would have a great perspective on GT vs Viper so maybe he can chime in...

how easy is it to import the car into the US? Given the age i assume its fine from an emissions standpoint etc? any taxes (outside of state registration)?

It probably cost more than the GT...#1 sold for $15m or something ridiculous like that. i wouldnt be surprised if the 3 digit plates are likely 100k+

Yeah carbon fiber would do alot to make that interior more palatable...

I think it looks pretty good but agree the color of the interior is not to my liking...they should have made the interior two tone with black leather and gray suede seats. But to each his own...

what is the background of the car? i know the history while at Ford but when and how did it get into private hands? i looked for a thread on it but didnt find one that talked about the cars history...

I read somewhere that he only started collecting 5-10 years ago and had amassed this collection in a short period of time, is that correct? If so, it seems remarkable given the number of cars in the collection.
