change oil in ford gt 2005

Well, I just changed the oil/filter and I used the small O-ring closest to the tip. Is there any harm in doing so??

    Changing the oil

Found them at NAPA. Thanks for the tip. Assume you’ve used these with success? Last thing I need now is to fill the tank only to find a massive leak afterwards😩

    Changing the oil

Sounds more like a crush washer. How are those reusable?

    Changing the oil

Ha. I was shocked as well at how tidy it was behind the belly pans. Well, aside from the light coating of oil on the oil pan that was probably coming from these leaking plugs.

Oil Drain Plug gaskets part number??

My car is on a lift at a friend’s house. I don’t want to take up space in his garage if I can get the gaskets first. Can always do the valve at the next change. Has anyone else had these gaskets disintegrate like this? Are these meant to be changed at every interval? Multiple oil threads across...

Oil Drain Plug gaskets part number??

The Fumoto valves? Have to find the link. Does the kit come for replacements for all 3 plugs? EDIT: found it. https://www.cooltechllc.com/ford-gt-parts-accessories/126-ford-gt-oil-drain-care-convenience-kit.html Still uses conventional plugs for the 2 in the pan. Still have to supply the...

Oil Drain Plug gaskets part number??

I didn't try anything yet. Nothing is open today. But I'd rather just get the part from a Ford parts counter and know it fits rather than fumbling through a tray of 1000 O-rings and gaskets that may or may not fit.

Oil Drain Plug gaskets part number??

(Reposted this in the "Oil Change" FAQ thread in the hopes of getting a quick answer) Happy New Year, and long time, no hear, my GT brethren. I attempted to change my oil this morning to start off the year. Everything going fine up until I pulled the drain plugs in the reservoir and the pan...

    Changing the oil

Happy New Year, and long time, no hear, my GT brethren. I attempted to change my oil this morning to start off the year. Everything going fine up until I pulled the drain plugs in the reservoir and the pan. The gaskets were absolutely shredded. Noticed some oil drops on the pan and on the...

Easy to Replace the Front Splitter?

Thanks Kendall. I have a very early '05, so I have the front grill. So, replacing these supports should fix the 'frown' issue? If so, the second problem is sourcing the parts. I haven't contacted my local dealer yet, but I'm not too optimistic with them. Ford Parts has them listed on backorder...

Easy to Replace the Front Splitter?

Anyone have a pic of the supports and their relationship to the front splitter? The frown on mine has been bugging me for a long time. From my understanding, replacing the splitter won't fix the problem unless these supports are changed out as well?? Ford parts has these listed for $143 each (I...

Car No Start. Found Problem (I Think)

Car wouldn't start again. Ignition on, dash lit up, gauges initialized, but I pushed the start button and *click*. Car was dead. Did the usual routine I've now done a 1/2 dozen times and removed the negative lead, loosened the ground and tightened everything back up. Started up fine. Drove it to...

Car No Start. Found Problem (I Think)

Yes, Optima red top. Just looked back at my records. Battery was actually changed 2 years ago. But still, a bit premature for this thing to be dead already. Out of town now, but will get it checked when I get home.

In the Market for a Ford GT Again

C&C organizers have other events, but to my knowledge, Memorial City is dead. The Woodlands meet up that they organize is a lot better than C&C. Much smaller and no idiots with Mustangs and Camaros. No calendar of events I’m aware of and nothing GT specific. Just gatherings I hear about word of...

In the Market for a Ford GT Again

Congrats John. Glad you found a solid driver. Thankfully, Memorial City C&C is no more. I would go a few times a year but it was always a clusterf*ck. The fact I kept going back shows how smart I am🙄 Lots of smaller car gatherings around town. Just went to one yesterday after I managed to get...

Car No Start. Found Problem (I Think)

Quite possible. I need to get my hands on a multimeter and check the battery itself. But the instantaneous response to just fidgeting with the negative lead/ground cable lends me to believe it's not the charge on the battery.

A year ago. And the car is ALWAYS plugged into a CTEK when parked.

Car No Start. Found Problem (I Think)

Have to bring this thread back from the dead. Have had battery/ground issues for the last few weeks that I can't seem to shake. Got a CEL a few weeks ago as I was pulling out of the driveway. Used an OBDII scanner and.....no code. Car drove fine so I ignored it hoping it would either go away or...
