Driving Comparo: Ford GT vs. Gallardo

Very good thread. My buddy owns the Lambo and the quality is very high and the GT is "kit like". My only comment is based on personal preference, the best looking exotic (to me) is the GT. I love the fluid lines and low wide profile.

    Break Dust

My belief is that sometimes the brake pads need on new cars need to "equalize". Which means that the difference will go away with time.

    Observations on Selling my GT

It is funny because there was another thead on this board recently that had a totally different bend. I personally know about four instances of people signing contracts that were not honored when the car came in, two brokers who could not honor the price they quoted and one outright internet...

    Went to the track today

Jamie, Great times, I plan on going back in the spring with different tires. I am glad to see 11.5s

    RPM Limiter?

AMER SPD, Thanks for the information. This data should have been included in the operators manual!

I think the doors are for function because it is the only way to get in with a car this low. Sideways would be terrible. Please get you car and after a month of use tell us if you change your opinion. To me this car is all about function.

    Peak Torque?

Thanks Dave, I figured that the rpm points you had dialed in were set-up for a compromise of power and use on the track but I had to ask.

Went to the track last night

I am checking into drag radials but I can't seem to find the exact stock size so I could put them on a spare set of stock rims. I don't think I like the stock eagle tires; I have experienced some abrupt "surprises". What is the best way to prep the stock tires for take-off?

    Peak Torque?

Dave, Do those shift points produce the fastest acceleration for you or are they set at those points for other reasons?

I think the doors actual make it easy to get to get into the car. Without "falling in from the top, I am not sure how I would be able to get in the car. After you get in and out a few hundred times you may realize the functionality of the doors (parking be damned).

    RPM Limiter?

That is very interesting because on my qtr mile run, I went to about 6,600 to 6,650 before shifting to third (my error) (11.8 at 124mph). Any thoughts on how we could find out for sure?

    RPM Limiter?

Does anyone know if the ECU limits the engine RPMs at any point to prevent an significant over rev event?

I would suggest you start at a 3,250 rpm launch, the trick for me was knowing how long to hold it before going all out. You should get better times than 11.8 if you have 3 or 4 runs available for trial and error. Let me know how you do.

I agree but I checked with Lingenfelter and they are not planning to do any upgrades for the GT.

Jamie, Yes; Englishtown, I will tell you that launching is tough with this car. I tried another run, just for a better 60 foot time, and I ended up with 2.6. I have a fair amount of 1/4 mile experience and I feel that if I had Drag radials, I could get low 11s; there really is that much power...

Went to the track last night

Okay, So I went to Raceway Park last night to take a few quarter mile runs with the GT. There was much excitement and picture taking. The temp was about 50 degrees. I did not warm up the tires or lower the air pressure. I launched very easy at 3,000 rpms and stayed at that RPM for about 2...
