My son's first ticket.

Last night we (my son and I) decided to take the GT for a cruise into town. Late summer evening drives are very pleasant in the midwest and the thought of driving windows down listening to SRV and the rumble of the GT made us both giddy. Things have been a bit blue around here for the last few weeks so I figured it would be good medicine for both of us.

Well running into town some smarta$$ in a hotrod last generation camaro starts trying to bump draft us going down a two lane highway. So paying more attention to the a$$ behind me than the speed zone I run into a speed trap going 25 over.

The MHP pulls both of us over was very polite. Funny he was the one that gave me my last ticket 2.5 years ago and remembered me. :bored Anyway, he said that he saw what was going on, knew the other guy WELL, and if it had just been him he would have written him for everything that he could. My son just sat in his booster seat and smiled wondering why we got pulled over. The trooper chatted with him about the car and to my pride my son told him everything about the car .... awesome just awesome. Then added .... and I think its the coolest car in the world. :thumbsup

Well the trooper just laughed wrote me for 10 over and handed my son his first ticket asking him to pass to dad saying. "If your dad keeps this car, when you grow up I am sure you'll be doing this a lot anyway." He smiled, I laughed and said "yeah your right ..... thanks!"

So my now five year old son has already bought a car (heritage of course) and has been handed dad his first ticket. Man, am I screwed or what?

Cheers
S

Steve, Couldn't you say you were late for a revival meeting with JJ? :lol

At least the LEO was somewhat good about it. 25 over in NC is instant court, drivers school and a year of hell with the insurance companies!

No question getting one of THOSE sucks - but, as you pointed out, it kudda been a lot worse. If it's the only one you've gotten in 2-1/2 yrs, it shouldn't be any big deal all 'round. (In 6mo it'll be the only one "on file", so to speak, on your record if your state duz things like our's duz here.)

Anything happen to Mr. Camero??? (That nite anyway?)

Well thats no so bad. My sons first ticket (age 17, only driving for about 6 mos) was in an 05 Mustang with a V6 (210hp). He was racing a friend & ended up with a 5 car pile up, one rolled over, 4 of the 5 were total losses (his car survived, $9k in damage). The roll over cars driver had a severely broken arm (very bad). The driver got Geico for $100k settlement, Geico also paid for the other cars as well. The kid he raced had Allstate, same thing, she got $100k from them too. Total cost (both kids) of the racing with lawyers cost about $275k. Don't let anyone ever tell you insurance is not worth it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And yet today, he still thinks he is smarter than Einstien and everyone else on the planet. :willy :eek :frown :ack :bang :eek :shrug....:lol

PS, Oh yeah, my genius son lost his license for a year too:bang:bang:bang:bang
(I sold the car, he rides his bike and guess what...no more tickets!!!!! So now he's a cool 18yr old, going a local college & riding a bike :thumbsup)

OK, NC is off my list. Fast cars & the state of NC obviously don't go well together. At least in Florida, we can call the "Ticket Clinic" & 9 ouf 10 times, its gone. My wife knows them personally for some reason...hmmmm:willy

You're to be commended for that. Having done that may save his life somewhere down the road. :thumbsup

(Oh. And don't worry. It's usually when a kid turns 21-25 that he suddenly realizes HE'S the one who's been an idiot all these years AND (OR) the old man has somehow JUST become a genius.) (In my own case, I was about 22!)

Well when I left he was still writing the camaro driver. no front plate, no seatbelt, illegal headlights .... and a few others on top of ten over. He had to down his speed to down mine. He said if it wasn't for the other guy he'd just gave me a warning but since I was in front. :frown

In missouri you can contest the ticket which usually gets it moved to a non-moving violation. Cost is about the same but the record is different. I'll call my attorney on monday .... not a big deal.

MHP asked me how fast it was ... I just smiled and said "Well ... on the track ...." :lol Gave me a thumbs up when I fired her up to drive off. all considered not a bad experience ... just one of those things in life. I'm very cautious when my son is in the car but the GT just sometimes does not tell you how fast your going ... you have to keep an eye on the speedo. When I am on the highway I drive by the tach. One thing I wish they had of done is a headsup speedo on the windshield. Its looking right that always freaks me out.

Steve...Steve...Steve: it's HOLES - not "a hole" (no pun intended). The PLURAL form makes the mental picture soooooooo much more repulsive!

I think its a good story. Not that bad of an experience, it always makes it a little easier when they are respectful and compliment your ride... Stan

Like any state you need to know the process and options. Not speaking of myself but one of the kids second ticket was a big one "octal something in a quad zone" :lol. instant court, lawyer etc, community service and a position truly known as a "prayer for judgement (PFJ)" assignable to a house or address for a period of time no matter how many drivers are licensed in the house. After assignment of the PFJ, and a 90 day verification of the community service in this case it became a 10 over. :cheers

Congrats...i can't wait for my first ticket in my soon GT...I know IT WILL HAPPEN !!!!!!!!

'Odds are about 100 to 1 that my 1st ticket in the GT will be for no front plate. I even know the name of the "officer" who'll be writing it.:bored
