The SSC Ultimate Aero set the world fastest production car record today with an astonishing combined top speed of 255.83 mph (411.76 kph). The SSC Ultimate Aero hereby kicks both the Koenigsegg CCR (242 mph) and the Bugatti Veyron (253 mph) of the official and unofficial top speed world record throne and takes the title of fastest production car in the world. Our previous article about the SSC Ultimate Aero was one of the most furiously discussed, especially the comparison between the Ultimate Aero and it’s European highspeed rivals was a reason to discuss. If the SSC Ultimate Aero can beat it’s European counterparts on more then straight-line top speed is still to be seen.

What is the pricing on the SSC? I know if you have to ask you can't afford it!

A bargain compared to the Veron! The maintenance cost and turn around time should be much better too. Does it have a lot of carbon fiber? I fellow board member may have to buy it, if it is CA legal.

Yessir! I know!

'Spoke with the "head cheese" of SSC at SEMA a couple yrs ago about the car and the (then) intended speed record attempt. He offered me a "sit down " in the car they had there at SEMA - but, I declined when I found out the car was SOLD. ('Didn't want to mess with someone else's new car.)

At that time these cars were running a dual turbo chevy 350 (well, 348 to be technical).

I wonder if the cars now run the new 427 LS-7's as their PRIME power plant? :shrug

Sorry, but the maintainable costs on the Veyron are VERY low... and quite simply, there is no car that compares to it... find me another car that is as easy to want to drive all 12 months of the year that is capable of what it can do?... and something you WANT to always drive because of the way it drives... Maybe it's just my experience with the Veyron that ruins my vision...
