Wheel & ride height question

I thought I had some time before I had to make this decision but The GT Guys are live in West Texas and just about done with all the mods on my car and all that is left is to set suspension ride height. I have decided to go the HRE wheel route but I'm going back and forth between 19"/20" stagger and 20"/20". I would like to have the decision made by tomorrow AM, so any and all opinions, experiences, and pros/cons would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

On a side note it is an absolute thrill watching Rich & Dennis live in action in your home town, its an amazing experience!

So, I have done many sets of wheels on plenty of my own cars over the years. I did 19/20's on the FGT (ADV10.1's). I did 20/20's on my '08 Z06 and I hated it to the point that I scrapped the 20's in front and purchased 19's. It was a very harsh ride (front 20's) ...not comfortable at all.

The low profile on the 20's was so low, that it almost looked like a strip of rubber painted on rims, rather than tires. Sizing is close to the same as the GT...and from that experience, I decided NOT to go with 20's on the front of the GT; too dramatic a change and I wasn't going to deal with a potentially harsh ride, not to mention potentially more pothole damage to the wheels.

I am all for the big wheel look, but there comes a point where it's not only not as functional, but starts looking a bit over the top (in my opinion).

I have 20x20 looks good rides rougher than the smaller sizes (shorter sidewall) but handles nice. If the roads you ride on can handle the drop in ride height do it for sure.

I'd worry about wheel damage with 20"ers, as there isn't much tire thickness to protect aluminum wheels...of course, if you have perfect roads, that isn't problem.

Thanks Roger......truthfully for a street car, I love the look and the ride/handling is good. Would be a terrible track application as no suitable "performance" tires for the rears

I prefer the stagger/rake. Too much dub-donk in some of the big wheel setups IMO.

I agree with you. I really dislike the cartoonish wheel diameters. My GT500 has a ridiculous 20" rear wheel. Tire selection and performance is poor. There is a reason race wheels are generally are no larger than 18" in diameter.

I like the look personally on my street/cruise around cars but on my race cars I am much less interested in how they look but rather how they perform.

One would think that at some point it'd become clear to anybody when 'the line' has been crossed.

Thankfully, I'm aware of no FGT owner who's crossed it with their GT..............yet.

Hello.

I bought the same HRE wheels and the same Michelin tires as the beautiful gray GT of Shelby Elite.

This is just for esthetic. Efficiency is a bonus.

These are Michelin Pilot 245/35/19 and the front 345/30/20 in the rear.
