And not just any cars, mind you. Rather, the partners maintain a rotating collection of vintage and muscle cars that they park, one each season, in the drive-through living room of their "industrial chic," auto-centric Royal Oak home.
"We basically drive it through the garage and through the courtyard and into the living room," says Evans, who wheeled in a 2006 baby blue Ford GT with orange racing stripe last weekend. It replaced a 1966 silver Corvette Sting Ray that he now drives to work.
Parked near a pair of red tulip chairs, the Heritage Edition Ford GT is the summer focal point in the partners' airy, loft-like space that once housed Hinson Heating & Air Conditioning, a commercial building near downtown.
The car — and its 6,400-square-foot indoor-outdoor setting — will be a guaranteed conversation piece at the Royal Oak Woman's Club Home and Garden Tour, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Of the six homes (and one museum) showcased, it's certainly the most unusual....
