There is a lot of discussion about 4 post lifts and lifts in general on the forum. I have a 4 post lift already which I enjoy but due to my garage configuration I know need another lift and I am interested in a single post lift to store a car and drive another underneath for daily driving. Anyone have one? Any recommendations? Also, I have read that there is a bump from the platform that you must drive over and that clearance on your car becomes an issue. Any comments / thoughts would help. Thanks.

I saw one installed in a buddy's garage in Del Mar CA. He had the same concerns with clearance. He hired a guy that came in and cut the 4" garage concrete floor and had a new recessed footing and floor poured. After the final anchoring and install it was flush with the rest garage. It looked very nice actually.

I'd love to know more about that if possible. I just picked up another car (have 5 now) and only a double garage so I've got cars distributed around at various places to keep the, out of the weather. I have to do some construction to put any sort of lift in though a single post would be the easiest...but it only partially solves my problem so I have been leaning towards getting a commercial property to store the cars, but keeping an extra one at home would be nice.

I sent the owner an email to see if he has pictures. He's on the road quite a bit, I'll post when he responds.

I have a single post lift, it is a BendPak PL-6SP, nice lift that I have had no trouble with since it was new in late 2006. The only car I have ever had trouble driving over the bottom support is my 355, but it is only inches from the ground, by far the lowest car I have ever owned. I use a one inch thick piece of plywood if that car is on the bottom. All other cars roll over no problem, GT, 430, Corvette, 360.
It really is a space saver if you need that which I do.
