Interesting how they went with bare aluminum center or carbon console option and a/c ports....

Would have liked 4 more round guages around Wheel column like original SL

I for one really want one of these. Hopefully, like most MB, it will depreciate like a rock and be available the next year or two for a fraction of MSRP

I think these well sell out and will be a halo car for years

M-B finally got it right and went with an honest interpretation of the SL: powerful, simple, and elegant.

The SLR was really an absurd consumerism solution searching for a nonexist problem; its price, pretensious McClaren badging, buffalo wing doors and SLK nose-job fell flat.

Gullwings were an iconic solution to a spaceframe racer and are a motoring milestone; just like the lightweight chassis/hi-po motors of Shelby and long hood/short deck of the sportscar.

A classic is a classic; thank god M-B realized this and got back to basics.

I will be interested in the final look of the car....I like the idea but I don't think it will be a beautiful car.

Should have looked like this

It's gonna be a fantastic car, for sure. that 6.2L V8 engine is a gem.

But for brute force, it's tough to beat their V12 twin turbo cars, especially the uprated version in the CF bodied SL65 Black Series.

Front and sides are gorgeous. The tail, well, not so pretty....

Agree HHGT.

The front lights should have been round (though in 1953, they were criticized for being lifted of the baby 190 SL)

I think the back is not strong (Z8 clone)...but that angle is misleading...the youtube video shows very wide haunches that look right. The back/lights of the original SL looked rather bulbous, and were styled off the 300D Adenaeur sedan.

The cabin is inset from fenders, and rear screen makes it look like a capsule-module. Hope they do the dual-vent roof slats like original.

I think the one thing they got very right is the scale and the all important doors which all have to agree are truly breathtaking.

The sinister stance of the doors raised is one of bird of of prey upon attack....and instantly recognizable.

I have to light a fire under myself and cut some new deals to come up with cash for this car...the first car since the GT, that I think is worth buying.

How much will they sell for? Will they be hard to find or are they making a lot of them?

MSRP is ~$195,000

Its supposed to be continual production, like current SL AMG.

M-B in usual Germanic form enforces sales at list, and doesnt tolerate dealer gouging.

I think they might even have financing incentives or loyalty discounts via card or MBCA Club.

I think alot of GT folks will buy one.....M-B quality, AMG power, with impeccable race/iconic history.

A retro intrepretation of a car that a decade earlier won top posts at Le Mans, Carrera Panamericana, and Mille Miglia..... is indeed not far from the GT40.

Note the secret ejection system

"The team also devised an ingenious system that, should the car turn turtle in an accident, automatically fires small explosives to blow out the upper hinge pins and allow the occupants to push the doors free" -AMG

I for one am interviewing for a new job in AM; if it get it, the SLS deposit is going in.

I want one. My wife really wants one. That is a good thing. Item # 3 or 4 on the list below would have to go when the time comes for one these gals.
