So I am roiling along and I see this pretty little 'vette whipping thru traffic. I decided to mess with him, nothing major just a little fun. I tailed him for a bit and then passed him. When I passed him I red-lined the car pretty good. The next thing I know I can't make boost. I figured it had to do with hitting the rev limiter so I went easy for a while and sure enough the boost came back. Normal?

"Loose of boost"... who says things like that?

Ya ya ya... I did win. I even pulled away from him with the boost limited to 5lbs. Thanks for your technical help on this issue. :ack

Yes that was normal. If you red lined the car the pcm opened the supercharger bypass to reduce boost to a safer level for the really high rpm. The pcm decided that you turned the engine up a little high and need to help protect the motor. Once the rpm and boost level was back where it liked it it closed the bypass and you got your boost back. Your bypass system is working normally. There are other situations this may happen like overheating or if the pcm looses inputs from certain sensors.

We weren't looking for a technical explanation...we were only looking to bust some chops!! ...and it wasn't about Fubar's spelling. :ack
