No doubt Bill this is one of your better posts.
I agree 110%
The sad thing is that anyone who spends time on this board knows that we can get things accomplished at Ford without threads like this one.

Well Said!

These are far more that transportation but rather rolling art and emotions and yet too many dealerships and some would say Ford see them as simply transportation that over time will be tossed aside as have so many cool gals before them. By comparison the European exotics are enjoyed and cherished with all of their short comings year after year whereas a typical American expects perfection and then quickly become bored. There are those that do not feel that these gals will weather the test of time because of this very reason and to some degree I agree. I agree that many will own these gals with a large percentage of folks becoming frustrated over time because they are not Acura NSX like perfect and then in the end these gals will IMO not only weather the test of time but will in fact excel beyond most expectations of today by those that not only enjoy their differences aka their character and personality but also recognize that they were born out of an extreme vision based on days gone past, moderate corporate support and funding, and yet they immediately became recognized and accepted as a true exotic "Supercar" that stands head to head with any other gal out there.

These are fricken AWESOME gals and as another stated; the day is here for some where there no longer is a warranty to consider and for the rest of us it will be here soon and you can take comfort in knowing that they are comparatively speaking; easy to work on even if a bit pricey to have done properly.

In closing; it remains my opinion that the goal for every Ford GT owner is to find and develop a relationship with a technician that understands you and your expectations. Once you do this the enjoyment and confidence level between you and your gal will skyrocket.

Takes care

Shadowman

Bill (shadowman) really does 'get it'! I happen to be very fortunate to live in an area where there is access to some very extensive resources to deal with the post-warranty period; Roush, GT Guys, Saleen. And while the Ford direct (warranty) may end, I believe the folks who had the vision to create the car, will quietly support it, even if only through their base of knowledge. :thumbsup

Personally I don't care much for lawyers. ( no offense to any GT owners who are lawyers)
I'd rather try to work it out myself or pay .Paying is in most cases cheaper than a lawyer .
Theirs no winners in battle .
A government which robs Peter to pay Paul can always depend on the support of Paul.

Shadowman, VERY VERY VERY WELL STATED. Trust FORD, FIND A TRUSTED FORD DEALER, FIND A DEALER with a trusted mechanic. Work with them carefully and calmly. I could not have said it any better. I see this everyday in my business with customers and other Dealers. We quite often repair others mistakes. TH

Unrealistic expectations.

Now add to this repetitive acts tend to make the process easier and in the case of these gal's many dealerships many only see one of these gals and then while doing any warranty work the same concern will likely not be repeated as such each and every time they see her is a total new learning experience.

These are far more than transportation but rather rolling art and emotions...........they were born out of an extreme vision based on days gone past, moderate corporate support and funding, and yet they immediately became recognized and accepted as a true exotic "Supercar" that stands head to head with any other gal out there.

Shadowman

Bill,

Another expected, normal, unexceptional post from the Shadowman. I say that because your posts are always outstanding, and this one is no exception. :thumbsup I view your posts like the writings of Kevin Cameron's "Top Dead Center" (TDC) column every month in Cycle World magazine. Always interesting, on point, and insightful.

Many of us remember viewing automotive enthusiast publications a few years back with a picture of the yellow prototype Ford GT on the cover along with speculation that Ford might actually put it into production. Legions of us who have lusted after a Ford GT all our lives looked at the photos and read the articles. Then we all probably muttered the same thing to ourselves, "There is no way that Ford is going to put a new GT40 into production, I'm not that lucky." But a miracle occurred, and lightning struck the same place not just twice, but 4038 times. Every Ford GT owner is the unlikely beneficiary of that miracle.

At the time the Ford GT was produced and there were more than 4038 Ford dealerships in the United States. The vast majority of them would never sell or service a Ford GT and the larger dealers that did get an allocation for a GT or two would service very few. As there is no such thing as an expert without considerable experience, many of us forgo dealership warrantee work and pay to have people like the GT Guys or Shadowman wrench on our cars. I suspect the majority of us would have purchased these cars even if Ford sold them without any type of warantee, like motocross bikes are sold.

As far as supercars go, the Ford GT was a tremendous deal. Like Shadowman, I don't wish to make light of anybody's difficulties. But to me, complaining about a less-than-perfect warantee experience on this car would be like my finding a hard body supermodel to come live with me, then discovering she's not only great in bed, she can cook, AND doesn't require that I spend a lot of money to keep her happy. But I'm very unhappy with her because she just spilled her Starbucks on the carpet. :bored

Faith restored! Ford approved all three panels when it was reviewed today. Luckily a Ford Regional Rep was at the dealer when we showed them the car. :thumbsup

I didn't have to send my wife in after all, but I did make sure she practiced on me last night just in case.

Oh, but there was one puzzling item... my wife was missing all day yesterday and I found a plane ticket to Fresno in her coat pocket when she got home yesterday afternoon. Do you think that has anyhing to do with my car getting approved???

After working with Ford Motor Co. for 50 years in this dealership I do know that THEY DO CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS and will go "above and beyond expectation" to keep a customer happy. I see it every day ,and you know most Dealerships will spend extra dealership money to keep a good customer happy if that dealership feels he will come back happy and repeat business with him. When I get a customer cussing and screeming at my employees I won't spend a dime on them. My policy "everyone is treated with respect" TH

That is exactly why no matter what happens I always treat others with respect. I will definitely let them know I am not happy in a constructive manner, but never in a million years would I ever yell and scream at anyone. That type of behavior is not only counter productive, but just morally wrong to begin with.

Back to a serious note, I strongly feel that this forum offers lots of benefits to the owner/members. However, trying to solve specific dealer complaints
by starting threads, or adding complaints on to an existing thread, may not prove productive.
If anything these posts can be detrimental to resolving issues.

Furthermore, there is a well known case on the GTI Forum where a customer complained about the Atlanta VW dealer and the dealer filed suit against his client. Remember, anybody can sue anybody. Lawyers are expensive and can ruin the pleasure of ownership.

From my investigations regarding the complaints mentioned in this thread, I am still not able to determine if the owners ever spoke to the regional representatives before posting their complaints. So should they be upset with their dealer or FoMoCo?
